NatWest offered me 0% balance transfer of 95% of my card limit until September 2009 with no balance transfer fee. I bit their hand off.

I've just been offered a BT of 2.9% for 12 months by Virgin. I ideally was hoping for a 0% with no fee for about 6 months as I have £700 to pay off & I think I can do it in that time, however spoke to 2 different people & neither could offer that.

However the first girl in customer services could only offer 7.9% for 12 months with 3% BT fee. When I said I wasn't keen, she said she could put me through to another dept which might be able to offer a better deal. Can't remember what dept it was but that's when I got offered the 2.9% deal.

Is that with or without BT fee?

  • Was sent an email from Egg the other day offering 0% until July 3rd next year with a 2.9% BT fee. Amusingly, the email said something like "Shh... just for you and a few selected customers - can you keep a secret?"
  • I got offered offered 0% BT with Halifax witha 2.98% fee or fee free 6.9 LOB the other day xx
Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
    Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08
    ANOTHER 4 % June 09:beer:

I phoned MBNA, want to BT £8200 from Abbey Zero, and the best they could do for me was 2.9% interest with a 3% BT fee for 12 months. Wasn't impressed. Been offered 0% interest with 2% BT fee on my M & S card, but it's only for 6 months. I need 12 months.

Lucky you - I've had nothing from M&S for ages.

Maybe give them a call - got to be worth a try. Having said that, they sent me the offer a couple of months ago. Any BT's have to be done by 31 December.

Quick update on the MBNA card - I called them yesterday with a question about my credit limit and they offered me 0% interest on my BT for 6 months. 3% fee.
I think this proves that it pays to persist whatever they offer you first, keep trying.
