selbmag, it seems you may have misunderstood the extended offer scenario,

    No I didn't.

It turns out the customer service representative mis-described it to me. They listened to the conversation and have agreed to extend the BT by 6 months and refunded me the interest charges they have made.
  • I have completed a BT and for the lsat 3 months with mbna they have been charging me interest even though the deal was for 0%. For the last 3 months I have had to phone them and complain about it and they have then sorted it. They have just done it for a fourth month!!!

Do you think they will extend my interest free period for all the hassle?

It may be a reasonable request but did they give you a reason why you were being charged interest during a promotional period ?

You need to find out the reason why they were charging you interest in the first place.
did you make a late payment at any point? In this case they would reinstate the promo to as a courtesy but if they didn't refund the late fee then it is correct that you would be paying some interest, although this should be a small charge
  • I have never missed a payment or been late in paying.

The point is that's been 4 months now and I have to keep phoning them to sort it.

  • Just paid off DH HSBC Mastercard got him to ring for BT offers knew they weren't usually generous but a customer a long time worth a try. Initially offered 5.97% for 6months with 2.5% fee refused and asked to close card next chap offered 6.7% for 3 months 2.5% fee! Card now closed. About to pay off his Virgin card present offer 0% until Dec08 fee 2.98% but confident they will extend period as they have been good in the past has anybody recently got a longer period for existing customers? All his cards will then be at 0%. Want to use BT on Virgin to clear some of my cards preferably ones that will then offer me a BT won't be clearing HSBC yet in view of the above will be able to clear 2 out of 3 of the following M & S, Mint, Goldfish has anybody got a recent BT with any of these for existing customers? Any help would be much appreciated.

With my Virgin deal about to expire I was looking around when out of the blue a 0% for 1 year deal (2.9% fee) arrived in my inbox from Egg.

I've had the Egg account for years, but haven't used it since my annual 0 BT ended and had thought about closing the account but had held back for some subconcious reason.

Saves me all the hassle of looking around and they can transfer direct to my bank account.

I just got offered two deals on my Tesco card. 7.9% for the life of the balance (no fee), or 1.9% for 6 months (2.5% fee). Not great but not too bad.

Have been hoping for news of tesco offers, so big thanks for posting. How long after intial promo period ran out were you offered this deal? I presume you'd cleared the card first?

    Many thanks

Managed to get a virgin 9 month BT with 2.98 BT fee so costing 4% p.a approx.

not great but well good enough as savings rates are available for 1 year at 6.5% fixed. after tax still make 1.2% which would equate to £200 for the effort!!.

Wish they still did the 12 month ones though.
