No haggling was required. I just asked and the nice lady said yes :)
  • Phoned Barclaycard to transfer a balance last week at the 1.9% that was quoted in a recent leaflet, asked if they could do any better and they gave me 0% for 6 months - 2.5% fee.

Virgin Credit Card is still doing thier 12 months 0% with 2.98% BT Fee with a cap of £50 for existing customers!!!! that too no haggling the BT offer was applied to my colleagues account and he noticed it when he logged in online. Applied online and in a few days teh money was in his current account.

I'm assuming offers are different for every customer?

I called Virgin yesterday and the best they could offer was 0% til January with 3% fee, and that to get a Life Of Balance transfer I'd need to get a specific Virgin Life Of Balance card! (which I'd never even heard of) But my boyfriend had called the day before and got offered a 6.9 LOB transfer with no fee....

    Horses for courses I suppose.

Yes this is true, but nothing stopping you waiting a few days then trying again - you may get a CSA with more power and\or sympathy for the customer and get a different deal.

maybe try the old trick which i believe in after reading it on this site 3-4yrs back. I guess ur r female(from ur userid) so if a female CSA answers the phone try ur luck, but if male CSA answers the phone then try ur charm. it does work. my OH did that the other day she was offered a raw deal (female CSA answered the phone and i told her to say she will think over it) and after 2 days on the second call a male CSA answered initially the same deal was offered but after a few words n the charm VOILA!!! she was offered 12 month 0% deal albiet with 2.98% fee (unlike my colleague):T

Just been offered a new BT from Capital One by letter, 0% for 9 months with 3% fee.

Very surprised as didn't know Capital One did repeating offers.

Does anyone know if I can transfer this to my Virgin One account via the Credit Card on the account or perhaps the other way is to transfer to EGG and then to the bank account.

Will this not look suspicious as it going to be over £10K.

Yes Capital One do offer repeats from time to time :j

I don't know about the Virgin One account, but you could route the funds through Egg or Egg Money, although please bear in mind that the straight Egg card is not designed to take positive balances and may apply a Balance Transfer fee when you move the funds to your Virgin One account.

Probably best to split it into 2 sub £10k transfers to avoid any suspicions of money laundering.

Have had Capital One card for some time but not used it recently. Have lots of money on 2 other cards and phoned Capital One to see if they would offer us BT. CSA said no way, offers only apply to new customers.

Next day personal letter arrives from Capital one offering BT 0% interest until Nov 09 with transfer fee 3%. Don't think it had anything to do with the phone call just a left hand / right hand situation.

I had something similar happen recently with LTSB. I cancelled the card due to them not being able to offer any more 0% deals (had 4 out of them over last few years ;) ) and then a couple of weeks after closing the account I received a letter offering me 0% BT for 6mths with 2% fee :wall:
