I asked Lloyds TSB today what they could offer me and they only offered 4.9% for 6 months or 7.9% for the life of the balance. Both of those come with a 2.5% handling fee.0

Hi, I have had a virgin credit card for just over a year, and have recently cleared it with a 9 month 0% balance transfer to Morgan Stanley. Was about to close it when they offered to transfer any other balances at 3.8%, which I left to think about. I have £1000 on cahoot at 10.9% so thought I would try virgin before I applied for yet another new credit card. They offered me 1.9% for 6 months with 3% fee. I said I could get better with a new card and they offered me 0% for 6 months, but still 3% fee, which i have taken. It may not be the best, but it saves me from applying for another card while I am trying to change current accounts. In addition, they offered to extend the deal to any money transferred to my bank account, for which I have taken £300 to cover recent charges, while I reclaim my bank charges. Suits me!0

Hello BiscuitLily
Was that a capped 3% fee?0 -
I tried Nat West about 10 days ago and not too good. Even closures had the same offer as customer service. I wasn't interested so can't remember exactly but about 3%fee and I think 5+%. They did say that the rate offered is likely to change around the 20/22 March. Thought I'd phone back then.
Haven't asked LTSB though. Has anyone had a good offer from them?CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -
This is very complicated, but it could reduce my interest rates from 20% to 5%, so please stick with me. If it works, I am more than happy for everyone to use it. Here goes:
I have a credit card which has a 4.94% lifetime offer on balance transfers.
They are charging 3% of the amount switched for the privilege of transferring funds.
I have 3500 that they will permit me to switch (90% of mycredit limit of 8350 less #4930 that I owe them)
On the #4930 that I owe, they are charging 20% p.a (I got it on interest free for 9 months but couldn't pay it back or transfer it - oh dear).
After a balance transfer, they say that they will take all repayments I make and deduct them from the 4.94% portion of the debt first, so I will pay 20% on #4930 still.
I pay my other Capital One credit card every month without paying interest.
Its balance xfer rate is c.14%.
I owe 850 on this credit card with a credit limit of 1150. They charge 2% for cash withdrawals.
Is it worth switching the 850
THEN doing a number of cash withdrawals from the Capital One credit card to a total of #2650 (to make up the #3500 available to transfer in)
and each time transferring the new debt with capital one immediately into the Halifax at 4.94% ?
I can also take the cash and pay off some other debts.
Does this make sense?
I cannot work it out, can you help?
PS I also had the fiendish thought that I could possibly make use of any delay before the 2650 had come across to the Halifax account, to walk into the Halifax building soc and pay off part of the #4930 loan which is at 20%, (thus reducing the 20% debt to c. 2300 and replacing it with 4.94% loan)0 -
Anyone had luck with this approach at MBNA, asking for a simple extension to an existing low rate BT.
I have a 5.9% ending this month. i cant get other cards at moment but have an Egg which is empty (rate now silly high). I was going to BT to Egg (free outside offer months but they just give me one which is crap bah) leave it for a few weeks and then BT back to MBNA who I am sure will offer me another 6 months at 5% kind of thing.
My question is has anyone tried saying" I have £x all on cheap BT rate which is coming to an end, my plan is to BT it elsewhere when time is up do you want to keep the business and extend the period or some similar deal"
MBNA always seem keen to do business, any opinions?0 -

I have had for a number of years 3 MBNA Cards constantly swopping limits between them.
In January this year I was offered 0% until November 2007 (10 months) on my MBNA Mastercard. My MBNA Visa has only got a £100 limit the result of having the limit transferred to the Mastercard last year for a previous offer.
I've just asked Abbey (my third card run by MBNA) if there was any special offer but 'No, only your standard 27.9%' was the reply, but the CSA suggested I swop the available limit from my Abbey to the MBNA Visa which has still got 8 months at 0% to run.
This I have just done, so now I have one MBNA CARD with a high double figure limit and 2 MBNA Cards with £100 limits.Old Saying Once bitten twice shy

My latest phone-around:
Co-op 5.9% for 6 months (no fee) - even increased my limit! Will put it straight into offset mortgage.
Blanked on Liv Victoria , Lloyds TSB , Egg.
Oh well - 25% strike rate can't be bad!0
