If you close the account then you can't get into debt.

I had a virgin MBNA card for ages and eventually paid it off. So I called them to ask what balance transfer deal they could offer me. I was expecting to be offered 0% for 3months or something but the woman immediately offered me 0% for 11 months with a standard fee of about £35.

I really think I could have got more if I had played the negotiation game, at least for them to waive the fee but I was so surprised at the ease of getting 11 months that I just accepted

Just got a letter from Capital One - 3.94% LOB with 0% transfer fee. I didn't even ask for it!

I have a Natwest Platinum Mastercard which i havent used for months. Called them up to see about balance transfer and they said 23%!!!! I told them i had seen some offers for existing customers and they said as i wasnt using the card then those offers wouldnt apply to me. So do i start putting small purchases that i was going to pay in cash and then pay off in the hope they then send me balance transfer option?

    Yup, that's what I'd do.

I have had an Asda card for a while now & they recently offered BT me 12 mts at 0% with 2.99% fee. Unfortuneatley I took this not realizing until too late that as I use this card for fuel (1p back per l) there is a small balance on card & I'll be paying the 0% off whilst being charged for interest on the fuel charge. Pd fuel off today even tho' not due 'til next statement but that's when BT due to appear to so think I've made a big mistake. (posted similar elsewhere as not sure where it should have gone - sorry)

It normally does not matter when the purchase payment is due. If you payment is on your account before they apply the balance transfer amount then you are safe. atleast that is the case with Halifax.

If they put the BT amount on your card and then your payment is credited to your card account then you would be paying higher interest on the purchase balance for 1 year which will eat into any margin you may make from stoozing.

Am sure that Virgin stopped maximum fee for BTs long long back. I would be surprised if they went back to it after having hiked BT fees to the exorbitant 4% & 5% for BT & MT resply!!

anybody else get such offer or this is just a joke by someone who has opened a new mse account for kicks!!
