Has anyone ever had any joy in getting a deal out of Nationwide on their classic card?

It's been sat dormant for months now, having only been used for the odd transaction since the initial offer ended a couple of years ago. Only kept it to use if I go abroad.

Also have been offered the Barclaycard 6.9% lob with 2.5% fee after I rang up to do a 0% for 6 months transfer that they had sent me cheques for, not a great rate but the intereting thing is that they will allow £10,000 to be used rather than the £5,000 that they allow on 0% deals. Strangely they insisted on sending a letter with a reference number to me before they will do it.

Anyone had any decent experiences recently on getting a repeat deal with Nat West, Tesco or Egg as these are the ones that the Barclaycard will be paying off.
  • Re: Halifax. I was yesterday offered 9 months 0% + 3% btf, instead of the standard 6 months. Just ask to talk to the customer loyalty team.
  • Barclay Card Platinum, 0% on balance transfers for 15 months with a 2.9% fee

When I did my BT over the phone, they said I had 2 different rates, would I like 0% for 15 months and 2.9% fee - or would I like 18% APR and no fee!

    Think I'll take the 0%, thankyouverymuch :)

Neither Virgin or Egg would offer me a retention deal so Santander zero card (12 months for 0% and no fee) got the virgin debt and Clydesdale (16 months 0% for a 3% fee) got the Egg debt That will do nicely sir...:j

I've been doing this tarting thing for 2 years now- and halved my debt:T.
I have only paid transfer fees in that time. My Barclaycard 0% is just coming to an end. so have transferred to Virgin (again) 0% until Feb 2011. Strange thing is I just finished a 0% deal with Virgin in Oct 2009, transferred so zero balance on that card since then, I am surprised thay are offering another 0% deal so soon.
Ideally I would like to transfer to a low interest rate so I can forget about all this tarting, it's worth it, but a hassle.

If you have a halifax card then they offer 4.94% for life with a 3% BT fee. if you keep the debt for 4 years then the effective cost is approx 5.69% which is lower than any personal loan that you can get.

We have taken this offer on 3 different cards and paid off our mortgage, the reasoning being that a lower LTV enables a lower longer term fixed rate at lower interest rate. so though on 20% of the amount we are paying 1% more on the remaining 80% we are paying 0.5% lower saving quite a bit in the long run.

I cleared my Virgin card last week, rang them today and all they could offer was BT at 29% !!! I said forget it. Is it worth waiting a while for a deal or should I just close the account?
