Good morning all! I've just registered, and will be running with DD at Pontefract, 10:30 on Sunday 15 July. Anyone else doing this race?
DD is away so I'm off running soon with DS as my pace maker. He's a great little runner - makes the school cross country team, and missed the county team by one place. He'll give me a *run for my money*.
To sponsor me, this is my page:

Hi! everyone. I did the rfl last year- walked a bit, ran a bit- in 36mins.
Have signed up again this year on 10th June at Welwyn in Hertfordshire is anyone else is running there? Big aim is to run the whole thing. Have persuaded sister and occassionally her BF to act as my personal trainers as they both run frequently. Sister away for the actual race so need to be fit enough not to need her motivation.
Am sticking to the training plan on the website but adding extra weeks as started it more than 6 weeks before the race.
Have just come back from a 30 minute run (should have been 25 mins according to training schedule but sis and her bf are very strict). Will post from time to time to let you know how I am getting on. I was mainly doing it for my own fitness but also 3 work colleagues have been diagnosed with breast cancer in the last 6 months and that makes it even more important.
Good luck for everyones training this week

I know this may sound like I silly question, but what are you all wearing on race day ? what i really mean is how can I stand out from the crowd, so that my family can spot me at the finish line ( thats if i'm still standing, ofcourse )
Cheers and keep up with the training X0 -

Hi, I'm doing the Race for Life for the first time this year in honour of my brave son Scott. Scott was diagnosed with Infant Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia April 5th 2005 aged 10 months  He is due to finish treatment on April 20th 2007 (knock on wood)
To say I am unfit is the understatement of the year! I will probably have to crawl over the finishing line, but it will all be worth it even if it helps just one person survive this horrid disease.
I hope you dont mind if I add my online sponser form address

for some people, there is very little time until their race day... this thread really shouldnt be on page two!!!
ladies, if you are flagging with your training, get down to your local library and pick up a copy of 'running made easy'
its such an inspirational book that it will get you back pounding those streets in no time.
get off your bottoms and get out there! you wont raise sponsorship by doing nothing!!!!!!!know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Hi ladies
I need to get fit so I thought I'd train for R4L to give me something to work towards - otherwise I'll never get myself motivated!
My local race is on Sunday 24th June and I haven't started training yet as I only just got the idea. I was talking to my MIL, who did it last year (and says she is by no means fit), and she said she did it in 50 minutes. I can currently walk one mile in 15 minutes so I reckon I should be OK to do it in 45 - although I haven't done any proper running in the 11 years since I left school  I'd quite like to run it in half an hour, but we'll see.
I'll post again once I've got my bum in gear and started training!
Good luck everyone
