    Hi all,

I'll be racing for life in Blackpool on July 3rd. In memory of my Mum and my Nan, both of whom I lost in a terrible 4 month period (July 2005 - Nov 2005).

Miss you both more than words could ever express. Wish you were here to see my babies grow up, I know you'd both be so very proud.xxxxx

ours is really really soon! I'm walking it (broke my back in February) and daughter is - supposed to be - running. But she has GCSE's coming up and has done precious little training.

  • Progress Report from me... I've joined a gym! My first Race is 21st June (Brum), then 1st July (Leeds), then 8th July (Glos)! Yes I'm mad but it's a fantastic cause. I see it as saving for my future, as so many people get cancer nowadays that either myself or someone in my family is bound to get it, so I'd like the research to be top notch and getting better! I'm very very lucky to know noone who has suffered.

My progress is also going to be posted on my sponsorship page so if anyone would like to catch up or sponsor me a mere pound you know where to find me :)

Good Luck to those who have Races coming up soon!

    Hey all

Well, not having run since school, I was a bit concerned at how far I'd be able to carry myself without keeling over.

Went out for my first training session on Tuesday 1st and was surprised that I could run 200m without stopping. I didn't think this was bad - I can walk for miles quite comfortably but running is a bit different! So I was quite pleased with that.

I was planning to run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, so I did that for the first week but didn't run on Tuesday or Thursday of the week just gone as the weather was vile. Yesterday it was p!ssing it down all day, but the sun came out in the evening so I decided to go out again.

I managed to run half a kilometre without stopping! Not bad considering it was only my fourth training session! :T So 5km seems even more achievable now... (my race is on 24th June).

Hopefully the weather will be OK on Tuesday and Thursday evening so I can go out again.

I've raised £70 so far - this is from six people and I haven't asked any of my mates at work yet, so hopefully I'll reach at least £100.

    How is everyone else doing?

    Suze

    I did it!!! :T

Today I did my first Race for Life at teh Lincoln Showground. I have to say I really enjoyed it despite the fact it RAINED!!!! Like a drowned rat at the end by very proud. :D

I am no size zero & walked the race in approx 50 mins, kept up a good pace.

I aimed to raise £150 & actually did £265 - all friends & colleagues. I ran for my work colleagues daughter (2 1/2 & fighting a brain tumour), me (diagnosed with skin cancer in January) & my best friends mum (lung, chest & brain cancer & diagnosed too late to do anything for her).

Good luck to those of you yet to race, I feel very good about myself having done this & I know you all will too. :T
    NEVER ASSUME!
  • I am running Hastings on June 17th with my daughter and some friends. Haven't done any training yet so my hopes of beating my 25min best time aren't looking too promising

My RFL is on june 4th, but I don't seem to be getting anywhere with my training - started off very, very unfit(couldn't even run for a minute), but seemed to improve week by week and up until 2 weeks ago i thought " hey I may actually be able to do this" but the last couple of weeks i seem to be going back wards, have been poorly with a bad cough and cold, also shins and thighs have been hurting quite a bit, so have struggled to complete 3 x Min runs in each session, and have only managed to train once this week - I was really determined to run the K and feel that I've failed as I don't see how I'll be able to get back on track, as I only have 3 weeks to go - any suggestions gratefully appreciated.
