No it all it takes is chlorus to clean it up,the pool would not have to be drained a small job with hardly any cost.Back to the issue butlins have an adult weekend this weekend so basically you'll have 4000 people drunk having a good time with personal hygiene(washing hands)the last thing they'll be thinking of,i think they should've closed the park for the weekend and give each and every room a good clean so the weekly holiday makers arriving on the monday with children have half a chance of not catching the virus after all an adult weekend is a messy one, another 4 new cases down there today, after the weekend how many then?
OK, so they close and clean it up. Do they insist on quarantining everyone that arrives, for 48 hours in case they bring it in again with them? Or maybe they should not let anyone out of the camp into town so they can not bring it back.
People will travel and go out when they are there. Short of closing it forever there is nothing more Butlins can do. All the cleaning in the world is not going to matter if they go out and get it from the landlord of the enarest pud. People have a CHOICE to get back in their cars and go home if they do not want to stay there. If they choose to stay then they take the risk. Or, they move their breaks and stay another time as Butlins are letting them do.0 -
As a family of four we all became victims of the outbreak on Saturday 11th June after only arriving on the Friday morning. We left on Monday afternoon as soon as we were well enough.
My daughter was the first, about 4pm Saturday she was sleeping to be woken by projectile vommitting, this continued about every half hour for about 12 hours.
My son was next about 10pm same thing but he also had diarrhea.I quickly followed with what can only describe as volcanic diarrhea but no vommiting I just felt sick.
My wife was the same as me,she started about 7am Sunday morning,I only got off the toilet to allow somebody else a turn.
By the time Monday morning arrived we all improved enough to decide we needed to get the hell out of there.
I was offered a refund from Monday which I refused saying I am not paying for nearly 2 days stuck in a dirty apartment, they then offered to refund from the Saturday when our holiday came to an end.
I was talking outside the apartment on Monday to a Butlins member of staff about the outbreak when people in the apartment above opened the window and said they were ill and the people next door left Sunday with it but without informing guest services. Then people across joined in,they had it and so had their neighbours. As i turned out 7 out the 8 apartments on our corner had more than 1 infected person inside,I counted 16.
None of us had met previous to this, the only common thing we had all done was enter the Skyline and stay in the rooms.
Without going over the same story again, the apartment was disgusting,it was supposed to be silver but wasn't anything above standard.
The Skyline didn't appear to bad but the hygiene of the inmates was slack, alot of people exiting the sit down cubicles without washing their hands, but that is not the fault of Butlins.
Alot of the staff had poor English,I think alot of Butlins problems stem from less staff with too much to do cleaning wise.Profit over people will always end in disaster, the operation is cut back to the bone with cheap Eastern European and African labour.
I am a veteran of over a dozen Butlins holidays, and year on year the standard slips and the price rises.
Well that is it for me and my family I'm done with Butlins.
This problem will not clear up while the camp remains open,it needs to close, get the place cleaned and start again.0 -

Am I the only one that gets 4%? Which is quite high, when you think about it. Nearly 1/20 chance of getting it.
I wouldn't go near the place if you paid me - never mind paying to!"Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." Aldous Huxley.

With a hospital there are usually sick and vunerable people there that could die quite quickly if they caught it.
A school or workplace does not close if someone has it, they send you home. There is no H&S report to be done, life carries on as usual.
Butlins have made it clear that the rooms have been cleaned, however, you travel and chance your luck on not getting it. Some people just thin it'll never happen to them.
There are around 5000 people there and 200 people have it. That is 0.5% of guests. At my childrens school last year 20 kids out of 120 had it - that is around 18%.
I think this is being blown WAY out of proportion.0 -
YOU SAY 200?that actual figure was 400 that was from a good source with another 20 odd being reported yesterday and another half dozen this morning so far!
Not far off 9% now! And there will definitely be unreported cases!
Seriously, what sort of holiday would it be - worrying about imminent puking and the like.
I have a mild phobia of vomiting - used to be quite bad but I sort of manned up a bit when I had babies and milk used to make a regular reappearance. My absolute nightmare is being somewhere when I know there is a good chance I might encounter some vomit - and as for seeing someone actually being ill....
I hope the holidaymakers that do decide to go have a good time though. After all, it's not always convenient to go somewhere else or move to another date!"Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." Aldous Huxley.

I think it would be like going to Egypt or Turkey. Everyone that goes there gets a tummy bug, I don't even know why people bother but they still go and it is kind of expected isn't it? Just that Butlins is cheaper, there is more to do and the weather is crap!
I too have a vomit phobia, so does my daughter, I am not saying I;d like to be there. I'd have been out like a shot. Why are people staying when they know it is going around. As there are more cases, this means that people are choosing to turn up and take their holidays still.
In the words of Mr T... Crazy fools!!
Reminds me, for our honeymoon we toured Cuba. People thought it was hysterical that I had enough medication for the 3rd world and took the right mick out of me (I had read how hard to was to get basic medication out there). Anyway, on the tour they stopped at the side of the road and boughts Goats Cheese from someone, well I am not touching that and everyone else had it (I do not think my husband did). By 10pm that night they were banging on my own asking for medication cos they all had food poisoning.0 -

I would not even chance it Amy, not if your FIL is poorly already - it is not a chance I would take. Can you choose another date or go to another park. Butlins will change it.0 -

See I take issue with that, I've never been ill in Egypt because I practice good hygiene and use hand washes/antibacs etc. All of the people I have been with do the same and have never been ill.
From what I gather with Norovirus good hygiene will not prevent it, whereas in Egypt it will.0
