A lot of Egypt tummy is down to over eating, over drinking and dehydration as well though.
It came to me eventually! The pills are acidophilus.0 -
Have just got back from Butlins, Bognor this morning. We arrived last Friday, to then be made aware someone had been sick in public place & that it was Norovirus. Had no idea it was so wide spread until saw it reported on local news.
Have to say Butlins did step up hygene in restaurants & are visibly out & about cleaning, however basic hygene procedures like soap dispensers that dispense soap in the public toilets were poor.
As a family of 4 we have spent the whole week washing our hands & squirting anti bac gel. Unfortunatley 2.30am this morning my 2 year old boy awoke being sick & hasn't stopped since. We made our decision to pack & run before we all come down with it. We have reported it.
If I was booked to go with young family or vulnerable people to Butlins Bogna in the next few days, I would think twice. Even with extra careful hygene care we still havn't escaped.0 -

That's not going to help at all is it, when someone who works there or a new holidaymaker when it 'reopens' comes along with the virus and it starts all over again? It's not only at Butlins, this has been established, it's in the local areas where the staff come from and also other parts of the country where holiday makers will be coming from.
A completely unrealistic suggestion I think!
And no I'm not picking on you because you're a newbie (as some do complain of this), it's because your idea is silly.0 -

I dont know about people, but NHS Direct say:Outbreaks in busy places such as hospitals, nursing homes and schools are common because the virus can survive for several days on surfaces or objects touched by an infected person.

so how would you contain a virus as butlins say it has without closing the camp for a weekend? a sensible suggestion as to not spread it any further i think!!!!
honeypop is correct - the norovirus was brought into Butlins by a guest. Shut it down for a weekend and you could have another guest arrive next week with the same problem. Added to which, the staff are still going to be the same, so if they are carrying it the problem would still be there.
The fact is that bugs such as noro are going to occur where there is a high concentration of people. There is no short term answer to completely eradicating it.Gone ... or have I?0 -

No, it's a rubbish suggestion. Hospitals have outbreaks of it and they don't have to completely close down, and eventually it dies off. As it will here.
So after the park has been fully closed down and cleaned, the virus eradicated there for now, and someone arrives next week and it all kicks off again, should they keep shutting it down to clean it up?
Should they re-open all shiny and clean but not let any guests or staff in, incase they spread it again?
Should they check everyone on arrival for signs of the virus, and follow all guests around to make sure everyone washes their hands properly?
No, because they are equally silly suggestions, so not worth closing the park down as chances are it will be brought back on by someone anyway.
Do you think every prior outbreak or norovirus is still continuing because the places never shut down? No, they eventually die out and carry on as normal.0 -
