Dear users,
Do you think it would be possible to be a bit more respectful of other peoples opinions? Not shoot them down in flames? Cyber bully insult their jobs and make personally insulting comments? It's very immature and attention seeking. I used this forum to make an informed decision about SAVING MONEY (site name) the pages are being filled up with someone who thinks their opinion is the only one and personal insults. Also implications of new posters should watch what say etc. Timing of joining etc it's rather silly. Such comments have and I suggest should be reported. I cannot believe adults behaving so. I apologise to the huge majority for this post. I would not be specific and point the finger, just generally respectfully request that the site is used for it's purpose and is supportive not as a vehicle to insult and bully.0 -
I'm due to go to Bognor with my family and on monday, can anyone help in what the situation is now?
Thanks0 -
Welcome to MSE CL,
Unfortunately not everyone is going to pat you on the head when you make your comments - people who reply also have their own opinions, this is what an open forum is. Welcome to the real world. Have you never had anyone disagree with you before?
However, it is VERY frustrating when someone repeats the same thing and says they want something doing, over and over and over and over and over again without listening as to reasons why the things cannot be done and why this virus is so prevalant. What's more - that person then admits they work in a hospital so they should know how these viruses work. In real life you'd be saying the same thing too - but behind their backs!! We are just open with our comments. Someone who has no knowledge of how this virus works should NOT be working in a hospital!
You are new here but if you want to stay, you need to develop a thick skin and learn that life is not always about agreements. This is an open forum, people have their own opinions and do not agree with what you have to say. SOME of this site is for money saving - but not all of it. If you do not like a post then this is what the report button is for. But use it too much and you'll get chucked off - you will find an 'insult' in every single thread on this entire board if you read them. Annoying people tend to get insulted I am afraid, just like in real life.
I suggest you take half an hour out, scroll to the bottoms of the forum and go to The Money Saving Arms and then pop into there and then Discussion Time and read some posts there - and you'll see the kind of thing I am talking about. Many of us have been here for a long time, do you still think we would still be here if this was the case? I think we are going to be around a damn sight longer to you.
Setting up accounts to slate and berate companies is, in itself, bullying and harrassment, so I suggest you think about what you have written yourself and go back and re-read the posts you yourself are defending.0 -

Have a look on the Butlins Facebook page, they update it daily and if you ask they will tell you. Yesterday everyone with it was due to go home and they were giving the site a thorough clean before the new arrives (which were all over 18's so I think less people will get it anyway if it is all adult there).
However, please be aware that although everyone with it has left and gone home and they have cleaned Butlins beyond it's life, if someone arrives with it, or goes out into town and catches it from someone, it'll start all over again. This is just the nature of this virus.
You can get it even just by using the same door handle from someone who is harbouring it. The chance is always there.
My son is always getting worms and he has them about 4 times a year, horrible things, and we all have to be treated just in case, but like Noro it is just one of those things really, he gets it because other people have not been vigilant with their cleanliness.0 -
Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/butlins
and twitter (although I have no idea how twitter works): https://www.facebook.com/butlins?sk=app_151497351541076
Ask them and they will tell you the situation. Lots of people back from Bognor too - message them or post on their post if you are worried, I am sure they will be the ones that aremost honest about how it was handled. People who are sick on holiday are always going to say that not enough was done.0 -

I didn't join the forum to have a go at Butlins, only to put my story of what we witnessed first hand and of what happened to us as a family.
honeypop, you think my idea of closing the camp to clean it thoroughly is silly because hospitals carry on and don't close down when infected.
Thats true, but they do close down the infected wards, stop taking patients and ask people not to visit.
Butlins is still taking holidaymakers in to potentially infected areas, cleaning parts of it at a time is just shuffling it round.Your money is more important to them than your health.
The rooms are not clean, the cleaners get 45 minutes to clean 3 bedrooms, bathroom, hallway and a kitchen -!!! living room.
At best that is a change of bedding and flick with the hoover.
Our Tv was covered in fingerprints, the windows had signs of childeren fingerpainting on the glass and the window sills hadn't seen a duster in weeks.
Take the cushions off the sofa, food, crisps and every colour of hair imaginable.
No matter how drunk you were it would be impossible to fall over in the kitchen, the floor was so sticky it ensured you could remain upright at all times.
I could right pages just about the apartment but whats the point?
Anyone who has stayed there knows my comments are true.
You don't expect gold taps for the money but do expect clean,a simple basic level of cleanliness.
On that score Butlins are failing.
I was told personlly by Butlins staff on Monday that any room that showed signs of infection would be "Deep Cleaned"
Not all rooms that had infected people in them would show signs, soiled toilets and vommit stains.
So if you don't start again how do you Know its safe,it's just a game of Russian Roulette.
If your house is falling down what's the point of hanging a picture in the bedroom,go sort out your foundations.0 -
I have just reurned from Butlins. Both my girls were ill. I am appalled at the lack of communication and the lack of sympathy I received. No one seemed to be bothered. I contacted site safety at 730am after my kids had been sick all night. A man came to fill out a form at 8am and told us to stay in our accomodation. I asked for someone to come and clean the room 3 times before finally two people from accomodation turned up with face masks on at 3pm. They couldnt get out of the room quick enough! And incidentally I had to make numerous trips to Tesco to buy water and cleaning products as I was given NOTHING. The sheets and duvet covers that had vomit on stayed outside my room all day until they took them away at 3pm.Iwas offered nothing for the kids so I had to go searching for information myself. The restaurant manager was completely useless and I got very angry with him. In the morning I had managed to get some food from the restaurant (although the kids still didnt want to eat,,they were sleeping)But when I went back in the afternoon they refused to give me any thing. Finally another manager offered to send food to my accommodation. When I returned they had only sent a Response Team!! I could go on and on and on at the failures I found on this resort. I will categorically say that all those taken ill were not sent home at all. I spoke to a number of families who had relatives still onsite who were ill..as were my children. The swimming pool was not closed and it was disgusting. Filthy dirty tissues and plasters lying around.I couldnt believe it. Totally ruined holiday that the kids had looked forward to for a year. Thanks for nothing Butlins0

On the cleanliness of Butlins - the last time we went (to Minehead in 1995), there was a USED CONDOM lying around on one of the walkways on the Monday when we arrived. I reported it and asked for it to be removed. When we left on the Friday, it was still there! As I say the last time we went was 1995, would never go back.
Actually, I worked in the restaurant in a Butlins in the mid 1970's. The manager would come round several times a day and feel the bread in the waste bin. If it wasn't too stale, he would insist it was put out for the guests. I had dropped a whole loaf on the floor one day and he made me put that out even though I told him it had been on the floor. His answer was 'Just do it, they won't know'.0 -

I am used to Thomas the Tank and Bobs Big Yard being open but I guess thesemight be closed then. We are going to Skeg for 90's reloaded in September.
Was you being debauched....?? You dirty girl!! I hope you washed your hands when you finished!!
we had a fantastic time, the best weekend ever... it was a disco inferno one for our joint hen and stag (hag) weekend, evereybody was dressed up and despite all the drinking and the sunshine i didnt even witness an argument let alone any trouble... everyone was happy to pose for photos with strangers and boogie on down!

There isnt anything extra laid on during the day but all the normal stuff is open, the fun fair, swimming pool etc
