That is interesting. And you take it a few weeks before you go. Worth noting for the future, thanks.0 -

Yes, for about a month before, then when I'm there I take one 3 times a day with my meals.
I was told some years ago they aided digestion and as a probiotic made you less susceptible to a dicky tum:o

I also have emetophobia and about 20 years ago saw a psychologist to try and get rid of it. He showed me a video of this, in an attempt to desensitise me. Didn't work! I have been freaking the past few weeks knowing the 'lurgy' is about. I've got to go on a train tomorrow and want to wear a mask!0 -
The symptoms of Norovirus can be fatal if not medically addressed - eg chronic dehydration from excessive vomiting and diarrhoea - especially in the more vulnerable members of society.
I worked in a residential home where there was an outbreak of norovirus and it killed one elderly gentleman due to a pre-exisiting health condition.
It is very foolish to poo-poo it as just another stomach bug.0 -

Sorry, the child in me sniggered at the irony of that phrase...We are born wet, naked, and hungry. Then things get worse.

ANY stomach virus - or flu - can kill a baby, elderly or vunerable person if they loose too much fluids. They key is not to leave them unsupervised and to take them to hospital if it does not clear up. Death is not limited to Noro, it is just that this virus is more viriant than others.0

We have had it once in 4 years tbh. Everyone else seems to get it, my kids don't. My friends kids get it quite a bit - at least 3 or 4 times a year. Not saying my kids are filthy but I don't clean them every 5 minutes, nor do I use hand sanitiser, water will do. To be honest, they rarely wash their hands if they are eating in the garden either. My friends children have no end of stomach bugs and aches and she does not go anywhere without that hand gel - it cannot be a co-incidence that people who use the gel pick up bugs quicker. Everyone needs to have some natural resistance to these things.
Maybe your kids are like mine peachy, we have never had food poisoning either. I think they have developed caste iron stomaches because of the amount of out of date foods they eat. LOL, you'd be hard pushed in my fridge to find anything in date. They are currently eating Muller Rice that is dated 9th June. I buy it in bulk but then no-one eats it. I'll throw it away when it has obviosuly gone off, otherwise it is fair game. I think anyone going into my fridge would be horrified! Yesterday I had canned tomatoes that appeared from somewhere - where from I have no idea but they were in the front of the cupboard - but they were dated Jun 2008. LOL. I am still here. If you do not hear from me again you know why.
Og god, I have tempted fate now haven't I? A long as we get it before 23rd next month though, would not want them to take it to Butlins with us...!!0 -
ive got nothing to say about the outbreak... other than i was at the last adult weekend at bognor (end of may) and the filthy image thats been painted of us "they only leave just before families check in" made me chuckle, it made it sound as if we were all too busy being debauched to remember to wash our hands! lol!
but i couldnt help noticing how many new posters joined up just to slag off butlins on this thread!
ive never seen so many in one place, do you all work at pontins?0 -
CG, was it good? I am going for the first time this year for my birthday with some friends. What do they do during the day at those adult weekends. I am used to Thomas the Tank and Bobs Big Yard being open but I guess thesemight be closed then. We are going to Skeg for 90's reloaded in September.
Was you being debauched....?? You dirty girl!! I hope you washed your hands when you finished!!
There is someone on Facebook as well that has signed up just to slag them off.
Now Pontins, well I have got some stories, you had to wipe you feet on the way out of that apartment. first and very last time we went there. If you think the chalets at Butlins at grim, go to Pontins and you'll change your mind. Butlins are spotless compared to those!!0 -
Phew, worn out after reading that lot, but very interesting.0
