We noticed the comments on here, so wanted to take the opportunity to clarify a few things and put people’s minds at rest.
Around 200 of the 5,000 people on resort this week were affected by the norovirus bug. Guests who reported their illness during their stay and had to leave before the end of their break will be refunded for the missed part of their holiday. If you were on resort and would like to speak to someone about this, we’d invite you to call our Bognor Regis guest services team on 0845 070 4754.
We’ve worked closely with health officials from Arun District Council and the Health Protection Agency to eradicate the virus, and all guests who had reported that they had the virus have now left the resort.
As a precautionary measure, our stringent sanitisation and cleaning procedures have been heightened on all our resorts, and entertainers have stopped travelling between resorts.
We’re sad that people’s time at Butlins has been affected by this tummy bug. Whilst it’s a common virus, it’s a horrible thing to happen whilst you’re on holiday and we hope everyone affected gets well soon.

Am due to arrive at Butlins on Monday 20th. Very concerned as my father isn't in the best of health. My little ones are so excited tho. Not sure what to do??0

I'm due to arrive on the 20th June too. Really not sure what to do about this. How long would it take to completely clear? I have a 2 year old so more concerned about him really...0

Nobody can predict how long it will take to clear because all it takes is for one person with poor hand hygiene to spread it around all over again.
The previous poster who said it can't be called a killer because it's like flu.... erm, flu is a killer too. The same as extremes of heat or cold. Just because it didn't kill you, it does kill some people.

My step-son is currently at Butlins, Bogner with his friends, celebrating his 21st birthday... They arrived on Monday, having been offered no chance to change resorts or move their booking. They were told that all guests suffering from the virus had now left but, of the 5 in their party, 3 are very ill and have been confined to their apartment. The management visited them this morning and told them they had until 1pm to decide whether to stay in the apartment, and receive no refund, or try and make it home and be refunded the 2 1/2 days left of their stay.
The stories coming from the resort are horrific..... People have been sick in the pool, in the restaurants and all over the camp. The pool wasnt even shut for cleaning. The management are bullying sick people into making on-the-spot decisions and desperately trying to cover up the depth of the problem. Butlins customer services have been told to make 'no comment' over the phone, which is very poor indeed.
Anyone travelling to Bognor this week, PLEASE be warned.... Contrary to what Butlins are saying, resort guests suffering from Norovirus ARE still on site and the virus has NOT been eradicated.0 -

Surely a full refund would be more appropriate and do something to restore the reputation of Butlins as a company that cares about it's guests?"We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -

So they've all left the resort to go home to different parts of the country to infect people there? Great!

It was me that said that in the previous post.....i was actually comparing it too the flu - both CAN kill, i didnt say that either couldnt, but the majority of people who get it will make a 100% recovery after a few nasty days.
I work in a care home with vunerable old people, and we had it a couple of years ago, some of our clients were very ill with it, but no one died as a result, and that was with vunerable eldery patients.
Of course you should try your best not to catch it, but i personally feel, that talking about it killing people (as if it does this a lot) is just going to scare those who do get it even more and having it is unpleasent enough. I am also concerned that if everyone thinks it could kill them, then vomiting people will turn up at A and E (i mean those that have no need to be there - just feel ill) and spread it around the people who are at most risk of developing complications from catching it.0 -

Well there are only two things they can do, they either stay on the resort, people are complaining about that, or go home, and people are complaining about that.
To be fair to Butlins, we were at Minehead a few weeks ago and they have hand sanitising gel everywhere, but they can't really be responsible for whether all the thousands of people on resort wash their hands properly.0
