  • I'm there now aswell and all I know about this outbreak is what was put in my room and what I read on here. I think the person/people opposite might have it though they had a man in a suit there yesterday then someone turned up with three bottles of water and the curtains were closed all afternoon. not sure what to think about it really just concerned

I believe there are a lot of people falling ill with sickness bugs across the country at the moment. DD (13) came home from school on Thursday night and was so sick I can honestly say I have never seen her quite so ill with a bug. She had severe sickness and diarrhoea and in the end slept for 24 hours straight. When I called the school the following day the receptionist told me that almost half the school were down with it.

Similar tales have come from friends in other areas of the country as well.

Butlins have posted the following comment on their Facebook page:

You may have seen from posts on here that we’ve had a number of cases of illness reported at our Bognor Regis resort over the weekend. These guests were showing symptoms of norovirus, which is a fairly common illness - most of those affected have now left the resort.

Any guests worried about travel to the resort today should be reassured that we have stepped up our procedures of cleaning and sanitising which should interrupt the spread of this bug. If you would prefer to move your booking, we will happily and easily move you to a different resort (Minehead or Skegness) if you want to travel today, or rearrange the dates of your break for you.

If you have any questions at all about this, please give one of our advisors a call on 0845 070 4757 and they’ll be happy to help.

If you have norovirus, you will not just feel rough. You will know for sure! I had it a couple of years ago and so did all my family. It spreads really easily before you even know that one of you is infected. It was very nasty for a few days.

I am alarmed to read earlier in this thread that hand sanitizers are not effective against this virus. I thought I was being extra vigilant when I use it when we eat out. Is this really true that it is useless?
  • Antibacterial gel wouldnt help as it's viral but the hand sanitizers they have here are antiviral.

Things seem under control here thankfully, I'm gonna keep us all handwashing and santizing very frequently but gonna enjoy my holiday - off to try and break a guiness world record now lol!
