I am on OLES13 and my Electricity Primary Units are going up by 21.79% and my Gas Primary Units by 22.65%
I also joined OLES13 in April and I am now in the process of moving to a different SP tariff - one that isn't going up. Because I'm staying with SP there is no Exit Fee - and I'm doing the change online.
Thanks for that.
which new SP tarrif are u moving to ... and what is the %increase on this new tarrif compared to the above?
Cheers0 -
There's no fee if you leave SP either as confirmed on the email.0

I'm with SP but am terrified of changing as I've done myself over in the past and ended up paying so much more each month than I was.
The one site I looked at didn't have the plan I'm on and I chose what I thought was near and their cheapest fixed rate plan seemed to be £300 more a year than I'm paying now with adding the projected rise.
I'm at a total loss and this whole situation scares the hell out of me.
Sorry if this has already been asked but I need something really simple to be able to compare.
Thanks

So which plan are you on and which comp site were you using?
uswitch and energyhelpline usually cover what you need.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I seem to recall hearing that the exit fee would have to be refunded if you were leaving because of a unilateral contract variation (price rise in this case) if you notified your supplier and left within the stipulated period.
I'd stand to be corrected, but I thought that was the case.

Has anyone on this forum had their exit fee waived when switching tariffs or suppliers following the announcement of a significant price rise?
We currently have the Online Energy Saver 12 tariff and have yet to receive any direct notification of the price changes. When I looked in the T&Cs if says in sections 5.8 (part of Gas Supply Conditions) and 9.8 (part of Electricity Suply Conditions) "If we increase the price or vary other terms of the Agreement to your significant disadvantage we will notify you of that within 65 Working Days of the increase or variation taking effect". From the media coverage it appears the increase is coming in on 1st August 2011, so to me that means they are in breach of their own T&Cs. Also same sections say "If you do not accept the increase or variation you are entitled to end the Agreement by giving us notice to end the Agreement, within 10 Working Days of receiving the notification from us. If you give us that notice, the increase or variation will not take place. However, the increase or variation will come into effect if, within 15 Working Days of you giving that notice to us, we do not receive notification through the relevant supply industry processes that another supplier will being to supply the Premises within a reasonable period of time after than notice has been given by you."

I wouldn't be so sure
When I called them today I think they were trying to tell me that the "cancellation fee for your procuct" was not the same as the early exit fee
(there is no cancellation fee for my product, but there is an early exit fee)

Just switched from OES10 to SP Capped June 2013. Our direct debit went up from £51 a month to £66
But at least we're protected from any rises until the end of May 2013.

...Like a lot of people we all finished the "fix till end feb" and jumped to the oes 12.However by the end of feb they had brought out the oes 13 and the electricity was cheaper than 12 and cheaper than the fixed rate had been.So sometimes it does make you question the point of fixing...
Neither OES 12 nor OES 13 (nor OES14) were fixed tariffs.
The dates you mention are the tie in periods ... and the guarantee periods (2% less than standard dd blah blah rates)
The prices vary by region. When OES 13 came out it was the same electricity prices, but higher gas prices compared to OES 12 for me.
OES 14 maintains those same electric prices, but increases the gas tier 1 prices again, but oddly reduces the tier 2 price. (but still more than OES12)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... jingleberry wrote: »IMHO boiler care is a bit of a red herring. Do they offer to service your boiler each year for no cost? That is worth about £60 per year if you get it done privately (in my experience). Do they offer to undertake minor repairs for free? If so, you can be sure that there will be a long list of exclusions, and you might end up paying. And if you do pay, the pricing will be uncompetitive because they know you are unlikley to look around for the cheapest quote. Or do they simply promise just to respond to your caIls within a certain time if the bolier breaks down? If so, again there will be a get out clause which allows them to miss the deadline during busy periods (eg in cold weather). If your boiler is more than 10 years old you will be put under pressure to change it - possibly they will suggest that spare parts for your old boiler are hard to come by. I think you are better off finding a reliable registered gas fitter locally, and getting your bolier serviced each summer, when they are probabaly less busy.
Many thanks for your reply ;0) yep had pretty much come to the same conclusion re boiler. Called scottish hydro today after a 20 min wait and got the £187 transfered over to the gas bill to clear it off and got them to send me back my £500 odd balance left now its just time for the switch!
I'm a little concerned about switching and locking in then finding out i am paying far more and that the price comparrison through you switch is wrong, should i be worried about this i was going to switch to edf till 2014 for an increase of £50 more a year then i am paying now.0 -
is it possible to change from OES13 to OES14 ?
Also, i read alot of people are going for a capped SP tarrif ... but this is significatly more than OES14 - why? .... are people thinking that SP will hike its prices even more??0
