saintscouple wrote: »So same tariff as me, but still the October 2012 doesn't show as an option when i click the link to 'change service'. I choose all types and get 5 options, Online Energy Capped Rate, Online Energy Capped Rate (NSC), Discounted Energy Online NSC, Online Energy - Standard, and Online Energy - Standard (NSC).
I sent SP a message yesterday about it, so will wait their reply.
Cheers
Before you get to that page, you should have a drop down menu (from the 'change my service' page):
Guaranteed
Discounted
Green
All
Select Discounted, and press next
That gives a range of discounted, including in the middle SP DIRECT NSC - that looks like the tariff to me
Edit:
OR
as you were (assuming you selected All), and the options you have should be page 1 of 3.
Click to page 2 and you should find it at the bottom of that page"Now to trolling as a concept. .... I`ve just logged in to my account and clicked on "change my service" and the Direct October 2012 is NOT an option.
Also I notice that you are currently, like me, on the OES12 tariff and just wondered what you intend to do
I'm considering my options at present.
I may transfer to OES14, or possiby Direct as there is nothing in it for me.
But only if the early exit fee is waived.
I'm wondering if SP are hoping to catch the apathy of those not switching/transferring, else why offer the waiver of the early exit fee?
Otherwise if I have to pay, I'll probably take Ovo fixed deal for electric and give the gas back to Mr Levermore(Ebico) whence it came.
The SP deals are significantly cheaper than any fixed/capped deals - we know they are the prices from August and I'm taking a punt they won't go up too much over the next year.
To fix the gas is too expensive anyway - I've even allowed for a 25% increase by Ebico and it still pays to take the variable rate. - if they do go up I will check what the co-op offer who are comparable to ebico for me
Not rushing yet, keeping the benefit of OES12 for as long as possible (just worried Ovo may pull their tariff)
One thing is certain, staying on OES12 is not an option - it is far too expensive come August.
(Note: this only applies to my situation. Others need to look at their individual circumstances, usage and region to make a comparison)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Must remember to scroll down next time.
I've just done a calculation from my last 1/4 bill forwhich a change for me to this 2012 tariff will incur a 6.4% rise.
(A marked improvement on the 34.7% increase with the price increase in August)
Unfortuatley i only joined SP in January after moving house so can't compare a full 12 month useage.0 -
The October 2012 prices PDF was available earlier this evening but is now giving a 404 not available - just a glitch or have SP withdrawn it?
The OES14 looks reasonable - at least compared with the outrageous increases announced for OES11. OES14 is Gas 6.171 primary and 2.625 secondary as opposed to the scandalous new OES11 rate of 7.621 and 3.500 (Southern area).
I hope that Martin will take up the cudgels on behalf of those SP customers, who are not savvy enough to trawl MSE and comparison sites for the best prices, who will be stuck on the extortionate new OES11 rates.
This is equivalent to the banks leaving customers on dire interest rates in old accounts while having much better rates on new accounts.
Scottish Power is guilty of disgraceful sharp practice and deserves a good kicking from Martin and thence the media and the regulator.0 -

Still downloads ok for me

I'm hoping as SP have introduced such high price rises now, that it will be 12 months+ before another rise, and if they do this sooner i can reconsider my options then in looking to switch tariff/supplier.
For the region i'm in and the consumption i use, October 2012 is certainly the cheapest short-term deal.
Yes it looks a great deal.BUT,as i said before ,are they being rather crafty in that,as soon as they get everyone on board ,they will then increase at some point,(probably just before winter). They will stick to their pledge of still giving 1% discount on standard prices, therefore they won't have actually raised their prices and so you won't be able to swap tarrifs so easily withut the penalty charge.
If that is the case it would be better stopping with oes 12,as this gives a guaranteed 2% discount.
God this is hard work!!!0 -
I am so confused, currently on energy saver 12. Not sure whether to transfer to october direct or energy saver 14 or capped until June 2013. Interested to know what members on the same tariffs like me are doio ng. Do not fancy switching yet!! Waiting to get the letter from SP before deciding what to. Thanks0

That may well happen, but then hopefully they will have OES16 and/or Direct February 2013 which we can move to (with an early exit fee waiver!) and keep the low prices
Staying with OES12 is not an option for me, and I guess many others - it is now hugely uncompetitive"Now to trolling as a concept. .... I also won't swap/switch until the email is received.
Also other providers may introduce new tariffs this coming week to try and capture deserting SP customers.0 -
Well having heard the radio info from Martin my husband jumped on me to switch asap...
Stupidly we have been with scottish hydro dual fuel standard for years without switching i pay via monthly direct debit and a meter reading was done on the 6th of June. Currently we are - £182 for Gas and +£718 for electric so i really need to pay off the excess gas and get back some of my £718 they have of mine on the Electric before moving. We oay £105 electric a month and £75 gas a month, clearly we have been overpaying on the electric. They say on the bill i just received they estimate our bill for next year to be £895 gas and £932 electric.
I did a couple of price comparrisons via uswitch and moneysupermarket they seem to be coming out with the same npower for 12 months fixed we save £99, edf fixed till 2014 we lose £50 or there is the platinum fixed till 2014 scottish power including boiler care for a loss of £200 a year...
Now the trauma begins, it seems to be more logical to be fixed in for longer then a year i can't see the prices are going to fall so was going to go with edf however we had boiler problems this year so had been considering doing a homecare central heating cover of some kind plan so i am not really sure what to do now :0( I would not have even considered footing the loss of £200 a year on scottish power had someone not mentioned the boiler care and am wondering if its cheeper to go with the EDF £50 loss and get seperate boiler care or if the scottish power is a good deal?
Having not had boiler care before i have no idea of what monthly we would look at paying, we do have directline house insurance and i think they did do some kind of homecare at one point mmmmmm not sure what to do really :0(
How long do we have to decide before we miss the boat on fixed deals do you think? Martin seems pretty sure we should do immediatley on the radio and not even wait a day or two?0
