MSE News: Scottish Power to hike energy prices

I'm on their online energy saver 11 tariff. I know there is a £50 bail out on this, so is it worth considering??
I am on online saver 12 - likewise there is an exit charge.
BUT is it not possible to reject the price rise and stay on the existing tarrif whilst taking (say 6 months) to switch elsewhere?0 -
Hi,
a month ago when British Gas announced a price increase i took this websites advice, and changed my supplier using Simply Switch, which recommended Scottish Power as best supplier for me going off my annual usage.
Signed up to their Online Energy Saver 14 tarrif
Thanks a lot for that. :mad:0 -
Why not wait a few days to see what the rest of the greedy sod- em - energy companies announce? Is no use rushing around like headless chickens chopping & changing daily. They will all put prices up, dont worry about that.0

Same here, put the switch in action a couple of days ago, so hopefully it will change before August 1st...
If OVO were to raise the prices of their fixed rates over the coming days/weeks before the switch actually happens, do you still get the figures at the time of switch application?0 -
i can't find priced for their new Scottish Power Direct or 2015 Fix anywhere!0

One almighty rip-off again by the power companies. This situation in this country needs seriously investigating as we are all being taken for mugs. Something is seriously wrong when they can be allowed to make extortionate profits and hike prices by such disgusting amounts.
What a country, sickening.0 -

Online Energy Saver 14 won't see an increase, so you're ok for now.0 -
I'm on EON's SaveOnline 3 tariff:
Elec up to 900 kWhs per year 18.9525p per kwh, Normal units 9.3975p. Gas up to 2680 kWhs per year 5.481p, Normal units 2.84235p. 8% DD/dual fuel discount.
I thought I'd better look at switching to a fixed tariff.
With my usage (3200kwh per year elec, 19,700kwh gas) EON's Fixed Price 5 tariff would be a whopping 29% more expensive.
Looking at a comparison site, I was surprised to find no cheaper tariffs than the one I'm on, and the cheapest fixed (EDF) was £160 per year more expensive (and only fixed to September 2012)
Even if EON apply similar increases to Scottish Power's my tariff will still be slightly cheaper than EDF's fixed, although of course I'm not protected from any further increases before Sep 2012.
Nevertheless I'm thinking of staying on the variable tariff.0 -
Thank you.
I think I have made my mind up to change my Scottish Power tariff to the June 2013 capped one. I would not be surprised if there are more price increased towards the end of this year or at the start of next. Doing this means it'll be cheaper than what OES11 will be and my prices basically stay the same for 2 years.
I agree-Last night I switched to the capped 2013 offer from OES12 on the website. seems to have been done this morning when I just checked. I thought they might charge for switching? but it does not show a switching charge.
It it a bit cheaper than the new OES12 tariff so should mean no more price rises for a couple of years.I can't believe they have not pulled it yet!
undoubtedly all the other providers will increase before winter as they seem to operate a cartel :mad:0 -
