I am also on SP OES12 and have just used the comparison sites and after doing a rough calculation of what my bill will increase by after Aug 1, SP is still cheap. I could save about £12 by switching to EDF but would then have to pay a switching charge. I will ring SP next week and see what they say about switching to another tariff with them. I have always found them very helpful in the past.

Basically. I "bought" future usage at the current lower price. if you know what I mean

So when you change tarrifs, do you get a bill if you are in debit?
Or is it just carried over as it's the same company?

When I gave my meter readings today a bill was produced and I am £100 in debit. This just carries over as normal.

If you're in debit in the summer months, expect your DD to increase at next review.

There are also the same cancellation charges for switching SP tariffs - did you get SP to waive them?

Also don't you think locking into a SP fixed rate is a bit like allowing someone who kicks you to keep kicking you harder for longer?

SP are taking the !!!! - as they all do - and it's about time the regulator did something about it.
Because it is capped and not fixed there is that ever so faint possibility that the price may go down. But as these prices will stay until May 2013 and if I switch now I will be charged £50 and if I wait for the email allowing eme to leave current fixed rates with other suppliers could be hiked I thought it made more sense to switch to the capped tariff with SP which is cheaper than what my OLE11 will be from 1 August.
  • if your a scottish power customer looking (im on online dual saver 11) until october this year and was offered the switching fee to be waved. The problem is I cant work out the difference in price on what i will pay after price increas vs the new plan:

also the problem of daily charge vs. no standard charge which others seem to be mulling over to.

the tariff is not guaranteed to be avaliable tomorrow so I may just go for the non standard charge and switch with no fee.

would anyone like to suggest why this could be a bad idea?

    thanks in advance

I really don't know what to do for the best.

Logged in to my SP account and they have just taken a payment and I've gone from credit to debit!

My next review is in January. I pay £100 pm for dual fuel and no gas is used until October - just for hot water.

Sounds more promising. Best of luck.

I chose NSC - I would like to only pay for the energy I use.
