So how does that compare with the capped 2013 with no standing charge deal please?
7.802 p for the first 670 kWh per quarter, and 3.091 p thereafter for gas0 -
Thank you so much for that.
It seems Electricity is about the same, but Gas very slightly cheaper.
I suppose that the bonus is that the prices are guaranteed until 2013.
What would you advise please?Jack of all trades ... Master of none

It always makes me laugh as to how they work out the average price increase - some people must be very lucky and have only a small increase (or maybe they factor in the people on fixed tarrifs who will not see any increase)!
Certainly the headline figures are laughable.
My mother is on Online Saver 12 at the moment and will see the following price rises:
Electricity:
First xx units - increase from 16.699p to 21.558p (29.1%)
Remainder - increase from 7.216p to 10.664p (a whopping 47.8%)
Gas
First xx units - increase from 4.865p to 7.541p (a whopping 55%)
Remainder - increase from 2.777p to 3.457p (24.5%)
Makes the press release of an average 19% price hike laughable.
This is probably where trading standards and the ASA need to get involved !:mad:Rich Mellor

If you leave Scottish Power now there are cancellation charges. .. I changed my tariff this morning to the capped one.
There are also the same cancellation charges for switching SP tariffs - did you get SP to waive them?
Also don't you think locking into a SP fixed rate is a bit like allowing someone who kicks you to keep kicking you harder for longer?
SP are taking the !!!! - as they all do - and it's about time the regulator did something about it.0 -
When calculating from unit prices remember to take off any discounts for dual fuel, online billing etc. Standing charge vs NSC shouldn't make any difference, NSC wins if there are long spells of zero consumption eg no gas in the summer IF the bill dates workout. If you apply to switch during notice period you stay on old prices BUT SP must receive notification of switch from new supplier within 15 days or prices go up from 1st Aug.0

I joined SP last October on Online Energy Saver 11.
Calucalting ex VAT:
Primary Electricity +22.5% (16.699p to 21.558p)
Secondary Electricity +32.3% (7.216p to 10.664p)
Primary Gas +55% (4.865p to 7.541p)
Secondary Gas +24.5% (2.777p to 3.457p)
This is frightening to me!
I am on the same tariff and units which started last November would switching to their Online Energy Capped Rate work out cheaper?0 -
If you leave Scottish Power now there are cancellation charges. You should receive an email from them telling you about the price increase. This will allow you to reject the change as long as you switch to another company within 15(?) days. What I was worried about was all the other companies increasing their prices before we can leave Scottish Power send out the emails which is why I changed my tariff this morning to the capped one.
Bit of a dilemma isn't it?
Feel that I need to make a decision quickly, so I'm tempted to follow you and go for the capped prices with SP.
You said that you gave a higher meter reading, so that you pay less for your units up to that reading?Jack of all trades ... Master of none
