MSE News: Scottish Power to hike energy prices
Comments
-
TBH i think we can all scrabble around trying to find the 'cheaper' deals like scraps thrown from the Energy cartels proverbial table but, let's be honest, the only way to save any money is just not to use as much....A very real problem will be the elderly and poverty stricken having to choose between eating and heating. A travesty in a modern 'civilised' world.....
very well said :T0 -
Can the first one to challenge this awful price increase with Scottish Power and see what they say, please post here as this is such a useful forum and will help us all to decide what we can do.The trouble is ,now that Scottish Power have done this, the others will think it ok to do the same and we won't be any better off switching.0

How does a capped rate differ to a fixed rate?0

The true reason for the price increase revealed!
'Scottish Power' are rebranding themselves 'ScottishPower'. New stencils on vans and ordering new stationery without the excess white space has to be paid for.
Can they just do a cut and shut on the vans instead?
Or rename themselves ScottishPPower..........it's much more catchy.0 -
A capped rate means you won't pay any more than the prices they set.But if the price of gas and electricity come down(fat chance of that ) they will lower the price.
Fixed means just that,it won't change throughout the period set.0 -
Care to explain why that isn't true? It is exactly the position many are in and we are damn close to it.
Care to explain why (after housing costs) a single pensioner needs more than £600 per month to avoid freezing to death? Care to explain why a couple are unable to get by on £910?0 -

I think I have made my mind up to change my Scottish Power tariff to the June 2013 capped one. I would not be surprised if there are more price increased towards the end of this year or at the start of next. Doing this means it'll be cheaper than what OES11 will be and my prices basically stay the same for 2 years.0 -

Cigarettes, whiskey, sherry all cost money.
To be serious, you do realise there is more to the cost of living than just heating bills don't you?0
