I don't understand why people seem to think paying income tax is like a savings bank oh I've put so much in so now I'll just have it back.
why on earth is your oh sitting about all day?Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama

That's not your fault but it's a shocking indictment of the system. I'm not sure how he paid more in tax than you received in benefits though.
he earned a fair whack so tax as high.. not that difficult to work out.. he paid about £50 a month more than we received back.. not a huge difference but a difference all the same.
He is still working.. and no doubt still paying tax.. so at about the same rate he will still be paying more than we get so in effect noone but him is paying for the children.. which means at least we are getting something from the slimy weasel who hasn't given the children anything since he left. So no Izzy, you personally are NOT paying for my children.. their father is.. via the government.. and I suppose you could say if you take into account the other members of family who are paying tax more than cover what we get multiple times over!
I'll make you a deal.. when you are old and retired and sick, MY CHILDREN will provide for you care and pension and they will be the ones looking after you and making sure you are clean and comfortable! So long as they are home to cook my dinner one night a week thats fine.. I plan to never cook and evening meal again after they leave home..

A job where the monthly income tax is around £3583
I'm clearly in the wrong business. What does he do?Proud meowmy of four fuzzy cats

I don't get all this 'I can't have the family I want I'm paying for yours' so you know all your taxes go directly on benefits? None of it goes on the police, or the NHS, or prisons or MP's expenses?
Everyone in employment pays taxes, at the same rates, it doesn't increase if your neighbour is a single parent or go down if your neighbour is working and people on lower incomes can claim tax credits. That's how the system works.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Of course taxes go on paying for more than other peoples benefits and Im sure we all are thankful for the police and NHS. But someone on benefits having 10 kids is pushing it a bit. You think they should take no personal responsibility and stop sooner?I don't get all this 'I can't have the family I want I'm paying for yours' so you know all your taxes go directly on benefits? .
This doesn't make sense. According to your first post on your debt thread he brought home £1611 and you got £1740 in benefits. We currently have £3350 coming in each month (not including what we make on ebay/amazon etc).. and every penny going out.. and some!!
SOA (not all apr's because I don't know them but I will add them once I've checked my statements etc)
DH Wages £1611
various benefits £1740 (cb, dla, ca, ctc)
I usually average out about £200 a month from ebay too which goes immediately off a debt OR I buy replacement clothes for the ones I've just sold.
!
And you said you had £3350 income from his wage and benefits then and you have £3583 in direct benefits alone now.I'll make you a deal.. when you are old and retired and sick, MY CHILDREN will provide for you care and pension and they will be the ones looking after you and making sure you are clean and comfortable! Your children will not provide for me in my old age. It doesn't work like that. Besides, Can you guarantee they will all be tax payers?
I realise people can't plan for the unexpected but they can prepare for it just in case. And you can prevent pregnancy when your OH is unemployed.

Pigpen, why does your OH not contribute to his children? Isn't that what the child support agency is there for?Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.

and they are the ONLY person in the world who pays tax.. (savings are taxed, and there is VAT and all the other types not just income!)
My tax pays for all the disgusting smokers to have their cancers treated and the alcoholics liver disease treated..
My mother pays for all the immigrants to stay here apparently, I did tell her she pays for DS3 buut she didn't believe me!
My nanna paid for the queens holidays she said.
Funny how one persons tax is singled out to pay for the one single thing they don't like isn't it?!

Because he is a kn0b to put it quite bluntly.princesstippytoes wrote: »This doesn't make sense. According to your first post on your debt thread he brought home £1611 and you got £1740 in benefits.
5 YEARS ago was that?

and said on this thread it is significantly less than that currently

yes given tax is paid on everything.. of course they will.. unless you die before you retire in which case I will excuse them.
I realise people can't plan for the unexpected but they can prepare for it just in case. And you can prevent pregnancy when your OH is unemployed.
There is another thread where my child bearing was discussing in depth.. go find that I can't be bothered repeating the whole horrible saga... but you would then have been paying for my contraception or mabe by termination.. and at least one of you must be paying towards DS2 and DD4's medical supplies at around £1100 a month..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
