Well, I have 4 lovely children plus 9 grandchildren at the moment - and I'm still sitting here alone - and I get lonely too. Unless you tether your offspring to you, they fly the nest - and altough I miss them like heck, I think that we did the right thing - we gave them wings.

So don't waste time with regrets - life is what it is, we make our decisions, for better or worse - and just have to live with it. {hugs}

I'd never heard of the Duggar's before a reference to them on OS and am not quite sure what their claim to fame is tbh. I'm gathering its reality tv about a big family. It would have to be a hell of a lot more aspirational than any reality tv I've seen to make people jealous of a lifestyle (as opposed to freedom and money that might go with celebrity.)

what part of their life do you wish you had? The number of children? something in their outlook or lifestyle? Not having seen the programme its a bit tough to gather!

Perhaps you should just wait for the grandchildren - I'm told it's much better being a granny than being a mum, because you can hand the little horrors back at the end of the day...

I'm a long time lurker on the Duggars forum. Years ago the forum was on the family website, instead of where it now is. There was a thread once that 'predicted' that Michelle would eventually have a child with special needs and then all of a sudden she wouldn't be able to dump the next baby on the next eldest sibling down who didn't already have a 'buddy'. Sure enough this is pretty much what has happened with their youngest child who was born prematurely.

As for their views on not using contraception cos they believe it caused a miscarriage - b*******! Condoms don't cause them!!

As another poster on there said about them. I'd like to read the book of the 1st girl to escape.

Aren't they part of the abhorrent 'Quiverfull' movement?

Their main beliefs being that women exist purely to be baby factories and create as many little white soldiers for God as they can while their wombs are functioning. Shortening their lives, wrecking their bodies and enslaving their daughters in the process.
