If they delivered to a neighbour then would they leave a note to say. Besides that delivering to random neighbours depends on a community spirit which is long gone. When ordering the option should be there for you to choose trusted neighbouring addresses or for delivery to made only to your address. But I am confused tracking says delivered n my surname as signatory. If delivered to an neighbour then 1 I should of received a note n 2 the address it was delivered to should appear on tracking and 3 why is it signed in my name.0

I don't know if their machines can change the name of the recipient. So, even though someone else signed for it, it would still show the original recipient as the signatory, until the actual signature is viewed. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

This is pathetic. Its one thing randomly posting it to neighbours which I always thought was risky and with online forms it can't be that hard to have delivery option of whether or not to deliver to neighbours and if so which addresses. Now my dad has told me that he has received parcels in the past 1) In front of the door, 2) In the bin 3) Behind the bin, and it was only the time when it was left behind the bin that the driver bothered to leave a note. How can companies do that? Your parcel is exposed to nature and also anyone walking past can steal it. As for today, tracking site says delivered, and signed by me, have not received anything and heard no door bell or knocking checked in the bins etc and nothing there. No note to say if it was left with a neighbour and surely if the parcel was delivered to another address they should have this updated to the tracking site. Should companies not make it illegal for their drivers to leave parcels out in the open, be it on the door step, in or behind the bin etc, common sense really. While most of society are decent and honest, if I left something on my door step I am pretty certain that it will be stolen within a few hours.0

I don't think courier companies are able to create legislation in parliament. Unless you are a Murdoch, I don't think that corporations can pass laws. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
From my side, the 3 neighbours to right of me are trustworthy as is the corner house to the left of me. Opposite me is a Psychopath, used with full understanding of what the word means and the type of personalities it relates to. Besides him is an older lady, but her grandchild is a bit of a gang banger and I don't really know the others that live opposite me as residents are usually chopping and changing and only see them going in or leaving their homes.0

Lol, good point. So will rephrase it, should courier companies not make it part of their company policy that parcels are not left in bins or on door steps, or thrown over walls? I'm pretty sure that if main clients demanded that than the courier companies would oblige. Also, how difficult would it be to actually have deliver option of whether or not parcel can be given to neighbours and if so what trusted addresses, and 2 option for your number to be given to the driver so that he can phone u if his outside and can't reach the doorbell.0 -
As you are the person who is doing the ordering, the onus should be on you to make sure you make arrangements to have the parcel delivered to a safe location. The person making the delivery cannot be expected to be clairvoyant enough to guess where you want your parcel to be left.

Just a tip, text-speak is not easy to read on forums like this and things can be misinterpreted or missed entirely. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Good point you make. Suppose knocking on the door of the delivery address and giving it it to the person that answers is to hard to guess. And if left to a neighbour than leaving a note to let you know which address is also to hard to guess or do because as customers we should already know which one of a dozen plus neighbours it was. We as customers should also automatically know whether its been left in the bin, behind the bind, on the door step, thrown onto the roof, left with a neighbour that lives 10 doors away, or been posted to Timbuktu because how was the driver supposed to know that going to collect it in Timbuktu would be a slight inconvenience to my day.0

btw, my last post was sarcasm with you, not against u.0

I ordered a TomTom (satnav) from Argos outlet on eBay It was posted on 11th June on 24hour 'other courier'. They sent me the tracking details (Yodel !)
I checked the tracking info on 12th and the package had arrived in Reading Service Centre at 04:16(as I'm in Basingstoke that made sense and if the time was correct I thought it would be delivered on 12th) and a bit later it showed Departed Reading Service Centre 06:21 (I guessed that was early morning so it was on the way).
When the package hadn't arrived on 13th I checked again and the tracking information hadn't changed. By late afternoon it still hadn't arrived and the tracking info hadn't changed so I called their Customer Service number and took about 10 minutes to get through (they do warn you it will take 10 minutes) and I was informed that it looked like Reading Service Centre had sent it out to another service centre (e.g. because they didn't think it was the correct area for delivery). They took my details and told me someone would call me back. They haven't yet.
Now on the tracking info it shows this
Status Date Time Signatory Branch
Delivered 13-jun-2012 20:08:00 ASSUMED DELIVERED READING SERVICE CENTRE
Out for delivery 13-jun-2012 19:38:00 READING SERVICE CENTRE
Departed Depot 12-jun-2012 06:21:00 READING SERVICE CENTRE
Arrived At Depot 12-jun-2012 04:16:00 READING SERVICE CENTRE
Parcel data received awaiting coll. 11-jun-2012 00:00:00 NORTHAMPTON SERVICE CENTRE
I'm guessing it has just been updated like this because they've lost the package. I'm going to be calling them again when they open at 8am.
Now, in defence of Yodel (bet you weren't expecting that) I buy a lot of stuff from Zooplus and I've never had a problem with HDN / Yodel deliveries. I guess it's just a case of if you use Yodel enough there's eventually going to be an issue with something (law of averages).
