Has anyone done dumplings in the SC?

i answered lol!! indeed i think i once asked the same question! most people on here make their own i guess (i'v never put them in frozen tho, just near the end already cooked)0

Surely the issue here is that the commercially made dumplings are frozen? Homemade dumplings, besides being cheaper, are at room temperature when they go into the slow cooker and will quickly heat up - but frozen dumplings will reduce the temperature in the slow cooker, which is already low to start with.
I'd say, yes you can, but make sure you put them in quite a while before the end of cooking to make sure they are cooked and everything else has heated/cooked properly as well.

dont know about aunt bessies but home made ones are easy. Two part plain flour to one part Atora mis with water. Added to slow cooked onehour before serving works evertime0

Sorry - it never occurred to me to say that putting frozen dumplings into the SC would entail putting them in much earlier than would be recommended for home made ones.
To be honest, on a personal note - I'd hesitate to add them while still frozen because they'd drop the cooking temperature by too much. ive put frozen AB dumplings into my slow cooker at the same time as ive put all the other ingredients in then left it on auto cook for about 4 hours. some went a bit soggy but were still more than edible. i find they cook better if you bung them in the sc either defrosted for about 45 mins before you eat or microwave them and bung them in aobut 20 minutes before you eat. either way, they still have ample time to soak up some of the gravy yet are still cooked.wading through the treacle of life!

i am sure they will be fine hun ... maybe cook them for a long time though, just in case, soften them up a bit ....

I agree with tired with twins, we have used them and all I did was follow the instructions for microwave cooking on the packet then just drop them into the slow cooker for 20 minutes or so.0

I have tried them in my SC. I defrosted them for a few hours first, and then put them in the SC for the last few hours, they were yummy!0

Thanks for all the replies. I did try it and they came out quite soggy. I do usually make my own but just wanted to see what these were like.
Even my own ones come out soggy in the slow cooker and I usually end up finishing them off in the over to give a nice baked texture.0
