We always put them in the slow cooker, add them 20/30 mins before serving. I actually hate dumplings but OH says they turn out lovely.

You can put all sorts into dumplings, herbs, onions, sage & onion stuffing. etc, anything you want really, takes the plainness of them.

I think they were probably invented long long ago as a fill up thing.

    Morning everyone! :)

I am being ultra organised for a change :j, I have a loaf of bread cooking in the breadmaker and a chicken stew in the slow cooker but I bought a pack of dumpling mix which you just add water to and mix, make into balls and pop on the top of the casserolle in the oven....so will it work in the slow cooker?
I'm a bit worried incase they all just smush up into a mess?!!
Anyone else done dumplings in the slow cooker and if so when do you think they need to go in?
If i have to I'll cook emergency frozen aunt bessie ones in the oven and just add them at the end but they are not as nice as the other ones.

    Thanks guys
