Has anyone done dumplings in the SC?

I cook mine in the SC.
It depends on the power of the SC. My older lower power SC isn't really powerful enough to cook them, so I take some gravy from the stew out of the SC into a small saucepan and cook the dumplings in there separately (takes about 20 minutes).
On my more powerful machine, I add them in about 45 minutes before the end of cooking time. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I agree with angelavdavis, I put mine in for the last twenty / thirty minutes of cooking time. Don't make them too big and I do turn mine half way through to check.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

I put mine in the slow cooker towards the end of cooking time, occasionally I take them out and cook them like angela if they're taking too long (it's weird, I'll happily let it simmer all day, then as it gets towards dinner time I get really impatient!)
The easiest way to tell if they're done is that they'll float when they're ready.0 -
i pop them in a slow cooker if ive got it on high in under the last hour of cooking time mine seem to always come out ok and cookedDFW nerd club number 039

Today I made a lovely beef stew in my SC, put in some dumplings and they came out heavy as lead and left a horrible greasy layer of melted suet on my stew! I did do them on "high", is that right?
We had my MIL round for lunch as well for a Mother's Day treat! I didn't realise about the oil slick of suet until I'd dished it all up either, but it wasn't too bad in the end - where did I go wrong?0 -
How long did you leave the dumplings in for. 20 to 30 mins is enough.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I think it was about 20 minutes, but I was rushing round doing other things and didn't time them exactly.0

What a shame , still at least it was edible...
Did you use plain flour by mistake?
The stew has to be boiling to cook the dumplings quite quickly 20 mins is adequate.. but the stew has to be at a rolling boil or they will not cook well...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
