Rhamtroll, perhaps you can set up your own thread so we can discuss your views in more detail without distracting from KatieVA's questions.

I'm sorry, has my aggression not been passive enough to comply with the status quo? This thread is littered with trolls - trolls who direct their bile at the thread starter. It's pathetic, and it needed calling out. That said, I'll happily burger off, if the rest of the trolls will follow suit ;).

  • Hi Katie, if you are still reading this and the other people haven't put you off!!

You have said you won't be moving anywhere in the near future so would it be worth just signing up for homeswapper, and if anything comes up that would be great... if not you are no worse off because you are already saying you are going to private rent. I personally think it would be best to stay in a council house, they are like gold dust! If you was to go private and you are only saving £10 a week, thats only £520 in a year, is there no other ways you could cut back just to save even a tiny bit more?

Regarding moving your things - I wouldn't get rid of anything unless you REALLY need to. I would imagine it'd be cheaper to rent a van and move your things, than having to replace everything you got rid of before you moved.

I think it's a wonderful thing you are doing, I too am a single mum, and know how lonely it can get. Good luck with the move (when you do!)

Really? Worse than those who attack thread starters for asking for advice on the forum of a website that is about... asking for advice? Though I suppose you'll have a copy and paste response or two about "getting answers you don't like sometimes". Meh. Fair enough. But there's no need to be forcing arsey right-wing answers to questions that were never asked down people's throats.

People shy away from asking questions on these forums because they're worried about being torn into by -trolls-. That should be considered a problem, to anyone who actually wants this site to be what it's supposed to be. This thread is a sterling example as to why. Feel free to dismiss it as pontification if you want, it probably is, but it's also blatant truth.

The fact that many of you seem to think that uprooting to be happy, loved and attempt to build a life and a family is "less important" for a child than material stability

Anyone who would encourage the mother of a young child to move from a secure tenancy to the cost, worry and insecurity of the private sector must have a strange sense of priorities. Moving every 6 months is expensive, worrying and no life for anyone, much less a child.

Believe it or not, children like and need stability in their lives, not moving from place to place with all that implies.

    Rhambeau,

Are you actually KatieVA's young man from Merseyside? Or a member of his family? (If you are, apologies for thinking you are a troll).
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

You would have much more standing to make the argument if you stuck with your everyday ID. I can't believe that someone has come from nowhere to take up cudgels on this matter.

The thread is already under discussion on anther forum https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3262620 - and it seems that the OP of that thread was getting confused over which ID to use.

The trouble with this technique of pursuing 'judgementalism' is that seeing AlterEgo ID's here and on the thread about this thread, I begin to think that the OP was possibly another AE ID to bait this whole topic.
