i found my periods settled back alot quicker from the pill than the jab. well guess it shows really by my previous post about how long it took hubby and i. reading back over some of the pill names used i think microgynon was what i was on. seems to ring a bell.

i hope you do get the result you want asap. and i know it easy to say but just enjoy it and try not to think about it.

http://www.webmd.com/sex/birth-control/news/20020827/birth-control-pills-may-aid-fertility Although it mentions that some people have fertility issues within the first 3 months, there was a school of thought quite a few years ago that immedaitely after you come off the pill there was a surge in fertility, whether that is true or not I don't know.

    Hi,

It doesnt matter HOW long you have been on the pill - It's how long the pill takes to leave your system, for your hormones to return to normal.

The hormones leave your system daily when taken by mouth. Why do you think you need to take it every day and use extra precautions if you miss one?

The main issue is that being on the pill and having withdrawal bleeds masks other issues that may be going on at the same time, like PCOS, endometriosis, PID or your HPO axis getting out of kilter. Doctors used to think that 'post pill amenorrhoea' was a phenomenon in itself but it's now known that it was just the pill bleeds masking other problems.

  • I came off the pill July 2008 at the age of 37, after being on it on and off for 19 years. I had 2 periods, then was pregnant. DD was born the following July. We consider ourselves to be very lucky. All I can advise it to try and not put too much pressure on yourselves.

    Good luck x

With my first baby I had been on the pill for over 11 years-used different ones over the years. We were still in the first year of marriage and in our mid twenties so i guess being realatively young, always having had regular periods like clockwork each month, and still being in the stage where we had lots of "you know what" lol meant it would be quick. i had a short few days withdrawel bleed and that was that.

The thing is conceiving can depend on so many factors, the best thing to do is come off the pill, try to get your body ready by eating healthily and taking folic acid and then relax and let nature take its course. Of course lots of the "other" helps lol.

I feel so sad for all those who so want their own kids -sending positive preggas vibes to all those on the boards wanting bubs. My problem was always the other way, we had issues not getting pregnant. I have been pregnant 7 times in 14 years. Sadly we lost 3 through miscarriages, but we have 4 lovely kids. Once the 4th was born last year Oh went for the snip.

The trouble is until you try you can't tell. BIL always wanted kids, his first wife had issues and had a series of miscarriages. In the end that and other issues split them up.
Second wife again had unrelated fertility issues and they suffered through miscarriages, tests, operations, treatments and IVF all to no avail.

Go for it and try to relax and not worry.

Good luck to all who are trying

    Hi All,

Hope you are all having a good Friday and ready for a nice long weekend.

As you all probably know from my original post I was due to come on either yesterday or today...and so far no sign of it. Want to feel happy then at the same time I don't want to set myself up for a great big fall-so I will keep you posted.

Just to reiterate what ALIBOBSY said-good luck to all of you who are TTC as well xx

Hi. I am just 36, and I was on the pill most recently for about 5 years. Hubby and i were planning to start TTC in april/May this year, so i decided to come off the pill early, in October last year, and use other contraception in order to get my cycle back in order before trying. Started taking pregnacare plus once off the pill to prep my body, and started tracking my cycle in about December to get an idea of ovulation dates etc. We started TTC in April this year, and i fell pregnant in April! Very lucky. So technically took 6 months from last pill, but was only trying for that last month.
It was well worth taking the months off to get into a good place physically.
