Now we shop selectively between LIDL, ALDI, Tesco and ASDA - our average weekly spend is down to around £45 (under £25 last week).
Because we are more selective, the quality of food that we eat has actually improved - LIDL and ALDI are great for the more 'continental' type of products, which, in the 'mainstream' supermarkets, are normally sold at a premium.
I can remember, a couple of years ago, we used to joke about LIDL and ALDI - Not any more - I am big enough to admit that I was totally wrong.
The only downside is that, last week, when I received my last 'Clubcard' statement, there were insufficient points to award me any vouchers this quarter. I can live with that. :beer:Debt at lightbulb moment (Dec 06) £60,502

kazl wrote:I think anywheres worth a try. We wouldnt have gone there a year ago - maybe we should have done would have less debt now. Next step is persuading hubby to go there - was hard enough getting him in Aldi! Mind you think Lidl is better cos it does have main brand stuff as well like Heinz Beans.
Shouldn't take much persuasion kaz - my wife took me to LIDL's once - now it's ME taking HER there. :T:T

Just discovered Stollen, bought some a couple of weeks ago and we all loved it so getting that instead of Christmas cake this year. Also bought a red wine for £2.29 thinking it was probably vile but worth a try and its surprisingly drinkable!
other things to look out for are frozen salmon, cheese n onion pasties, packets of noodles and their big tub of luxury coleslaw :drool:0 -

Traditional German Christmas Cake - They also have genuine 'Pannetoni' which are traditional Italian Christmas Cakes, for less than half of the Tesco price.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser.
