    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm doing the Dukan Diet, started it 7 weeks ago today with 2 days' Attack phase. I'm losing slowly but steadily, averaging a pound a week. I'm now down to 69.1 kg, which is approx 10 3/4 stones. It's many years since I've been below 11 stones.

Also my DH is finding it beneficial. He ate the last potato we had in the house weeks ago and said he wouldn't buy any more. He's eating a lot less carbs, result: he needs to use less insulin, which means - he's losing weight too!

I've tried other things, especially over the last 3-4 years, but this is the only thing that is really working.

Margaret, on your protein days make sure that you eat LOTS of it, you can not eat too much.

I found that if I had more protein then I lost more weight. I bought some steak mince from Tesco, think it was about three pounds but I made 4 or 5 1/4lb burgers from it, dry fried them and used them to snack on for that day.

Also had lots of prawns and turkey mince and I def lost more by eating more.

I am the same weight but my muscles are more pronounced and my size 12 trousers are lose so the weight is staying the same in conso buy I am losing inches here and there.

Don't expect them to be like proper cakes though as they have no flour in them, but they do make a good sweet, especially if you make some flavoured yoghurt to pour over them.

Is wheat bran the same as wheat germ?

Post 8 on this link says no, wheat germ isn't suitable for the Dukan diet.

Wheatgerm and wheat bran are not the same thing! I finally tracked down wheatbran in a wholefood co-op, I couldn't find it in the supermarkets. The wheatgerm is the nutritious part of the grain and the bran- well- the roughage!!

Cereal bran is nothing more than belly fill, which is why bran mash is fed to horses. It has a fair amount of roughage which is good for the digestive system. That's about it.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Not sure why you are stating this again, you mentioned the 'belly fill' part on post 18 of this thread?

I understand that the dukan diet is not for everyone, but this thread helps people who are on it and are looking for advice so I'm not sure why you want to keep slating it??

It certainly has worked for me - have you tried it?

I'm not slating it, merely explaining what bran is and does.

  • Fair enough, thanks!
  • I quote from the package:
"Oatbran is a good source of soluble fibre which can help reduce blood cholestrol"
    Also:
    No cholesterol
    Very low in sodium
    Low in sugar
    Very high in dietary fiber
    High in iron
    Very high in manganese
    Very high in magnesium
    Very high in phosphorus
    Very high in selenium
    Very high in thiamin
