In reply to the exercise question. I am not exactly doing the Dukan diet (I want to explain that)- it's more Atkins tweaked!! but it's still no carbs. A couple of weeks ago I went swimming every weekday- total that week- swam 2 miles! Absolutely no problem, but I do understand that swimming is not quite as athletic as running etc. This month my local council has free swims for older citizens (my terms!!!!) so I am hoping to go every weekday this week coming, after that I shall be on a cruise. Oh, what a hard life! I am going to try hard NOT to come home heaps heavier but I love cakes and cream scones!!
I've got the muffins to a fine art now- I add some what i think might be forbidden goodies like a large grated carrot- but the weight is going down very gradually.......

Cereal bran is nothing more than belly fill, which is why bran mash is fed to horses. It has a fair amount of roughage which is good for the digestive system. That's about it.
    Wrong again!

Further to my positive comments about oat bran in an earlier post I read this tonight in Good Housekeeping mag because it is breast cancer awareness month. In the tips to keep healthy,in the eat well section it says that we should eat more fibre.... Cereal fibre is the most protective... So there we are, oat bran and wheat bran are all fibre, you can't get more fibre-y than that!!. This is especially relevant for pre-menopausal ladies as a diet high in fibre can lower blood oestrogen levels which reduces the risk of breast cancer.

So now you know all that fibre is just what the doctor ordered!!

Just eaten the last of the day's muffins.
One day last week I drove 375 miles plus more than 4 hours on the ferry and I didn't succumb to anything wicked. I had my trusty bran muffins to keep me on the straight and narrow!

Also today and yesterday swam half a mile...can I manage half a mile every day this week??!! I'll try...just means getting up so flipping early..

Just stick in there and congratulations on losing what you have done. Those of us who have a weight problem (and have always had one) know JUST how hard it is.

I followed the Pink Path (Idiot Proof Diet) last year. I lost 3 stone, but since stopping have managed to put 2 back on, and can't seem to get back into it in the same way. I have bought the Dukan book and will be trying it from next Monday (after I have had a chance to shop properly)
I have already bought the Oatbran and Wheatbran. I know cutting the carbs works for me, so don't understand why I am finding it so hard this time around.
    Wish me luck please ..............
And well done to everyone losing - stick with it.

This bit is to make you chuckle.:rotfl:
I had forgotten all about it!

Last week my hound who is long and lean (I'm jealous), leaned into the sink when I was out of the kitchen and grabbed a silicone muffin case that had held a bran muffin and was awaiting the washing up water. Little monkey chewed up my silicone muffin case which clearly means that bran muffins have the canine seal of approval!! She decided that the silicone wasn't too tasty and I discovered the mangled bits.

Thanks MaragetClare. You are right, of course, I went back to the old way of eating, and I can't do that.
I actually haven't started yet as I have been ill - sore throat, cough and temperature. Feeling better, but not quite there yet, so will weigh in tomorrow morning and begin.
Thanks for the kick up the b*m - I needed that!:rotfl:

    Well, I'm in.

The fridge has never looked so healthy before.

    5 day Attack started yesterday.

It was steak, seafood mix, tuna & seafood sticks all day yesterday.

Today was scrambled eggs, baked cod and the rest of the steak.

Managed to find Oatbran in Sainsbury and have just cooked my first Gallete (sp?) which was ok with Oncken FF Vanilla yoghurt. I need to cook it a little longer next time to stop it from disintegrating though, the egg didn't seem to bind it all that well.

Thankfully black coffee is still allowed.
