I'm very interested in the Dukan Diet and think I'll get it started on Monday - have had a look on the Dukan website and have got my 'true weight' I'm currently around 9 stone 7 and my 'true weight' is 8 stone 6 so just over a stone to lose, hope this will come easily.

I currently do classes at least 2 days a week with regular walking and have seen no weight loss at all - probably due to unlimited biscuits and cakes on offer at work as well as home, so hoping that this changes my whole way of eating.

Now for the money saving questions...

I refuse to pay for the book and the online subscription, does anyone know of a good online resource for recipes/meal plans?

My 'personalised' plan has recommended just two days of the attach phase but I think I may do 3 days, does anyone have any tips to survive these days or recommended meals?

I used to be a veggie so on the down side though i'm not used to eating a lot of meat and I have to say the only fish that I like is prawns, cod and crab sticks - dont like tuna or salmon.

Do you think I will survive with this? Also i keep reading about the oat bran can this be used to make a porridge if so how?

Sorry for my complete lack of knowledge - was just wondering if there are any sites you would recommend or that have helped you through the process..

Hope to hear some ideas/tips soon :0 x

I would have thought the Oat bran could make a porridge of sorts, but it would be a much smoother paste than the milled Oat variety, OB is almost like dust by comparison. A bit of semi skimmed and bang it in the microwave.....

I did buy the book, only because that makes it easier to carry around and check before shopping, while cooking etc. I paid about £2 on eBay.

    Good luck.

I use FAGE 0% yoghurt and it binds it together really well, it is very thick. This greek yoghurt is also nice with splenda and chocolate/coffee powder as a dessert.

I also make oatbran porridge with skimmed milk and add vanilla essence before cooking. I top it up with splenda when cooked. It really is very filling, sweet and a great hunger-stopper!
There is a site for great recipes for free called mydukandiet.com. I have found most of my recipes on there

After several months of cooking this and many broken up pancakes, I have found cooking it on a low heat for longer holds it together better than cooking on a high heat. Since I have cooked it more slowly it hasn't fallen apart.
  • Not sure how you're going to do this with neither the book nor the subscription. Me, I paid the subscription. Money well spent. If you join WeightWatchers or Slimming World you pay, if you joint a gym you pay.

I dont really see this as an issue at all - after not much Google searching last night i've found lots of helpful resources! Even the Daily Mail lists the allowed foods! Plus lots of other dieting website resources. I actually pay for my gym membership so I think that I spend enough money on that per month. I only have a stone in weight to lose so to be honest I dont feel i need the book. Thanks for everyones help so far :-) Does anyone know if Co-op or Waitrose sell Oat Bran? They are my only local food stores so hoping to pick some up tomorrow :)

Your local library will probably have a copy of the book.
  • Yes I would think my library do have a copy but i've chosen not to read the book - it is quite straight forward to follow as I said before lots of resources online that are available..
