  • Hi there,
I'm intending on starting the Dukan diet on 1st August, and as I don't eat fish I will be eating an awful lot of chicken! Can anyone tell me if I can spice it up to ring the changes in the Attack phase, and if so then what spices? eg, Cajun, curry powder, chilli powder etc etc?

I have the book and pickles are specified, does it mean like picked gherkins/onions etc or sandwich pickles like piccallili etc etc?

Thankyou in advance for any help xxx

I have been marinating mini chicken breast fillets in spices which I have made from recipes at food.com and allrecipes.com and a bit of lemon juice, then grilling them for about 5 mins on my mini George Foreman.

I have then sliced them and either had them wrapped in an omelette or with salad on a protein veg day.

    ;)

Hi guys, I started the dukan on the 28th May and lost 12 pounds in a month. I am now about half way through the consolidation phase and can honestly say that it really has worked very well. On one or two days I have maybe eaten a wee sweetie or 2 or after my celebration meal your weight does go up by a pound or two, but doing your pure protein once a week is amazing!

It drops me right back down to my true weight, it's really weird, like your body has been programmed. :D

So good luck to everyone, I know some people have knocked this diet but my mum is also on it, has lost over a stone and is 72 and diabetic (has now reduced her medication!! :j)
Did anyone notice that T$sco changed the price of the oatbran from 99p to £1.49 -- ratbags -- someone must have told them about this diet :rotfl:
  • I've ordered the book from Play.com, as soon as it arrives I'll be giving it a go! :j

Got about 5st to lose so need something that will motivate me with quick loss in the beginning!

Then hopefully when I'm a little lighter exercise will feature too.
Before you ask, yes, I work for a bank, but no, I didn't get a bonus!

They say that you can lose 2lb on that pp day on a thursday, what has been your averaage weight loss Nonnie on a thursday?

I didn't know that the Oatbran had been 99p but to be honest I can't see myself buying tons of it as it looks like it will last a while.

You only need 1½ tbs a day in the attack phase and 2 tbs in cruise and it is a decent sized bag.

    ;)

I was surprise how much I like the taste of the oatbran, I thought it would tast like sawdust :D but it is quite nice especially in a Muller Lite Toffee yog, makes it taste a bit like a farrero roche type thing.

fantastic forum for help and chat

I haven't registered but have been reading the forums and it is quite interesting, especially listening to everyones experience with the diet.

Thanks for the link Claire. ;)

By the way one tip I found on there, if you seem to have stalled, leave out the Muller Lite yog for a while if you are eating those. I have been having one of those a day, half in the morning with ½tb of oatbran, the other after evening meal with another ½tbs. However I have only lost a matter of ounces over the past couple of days. Didn't have one yesterday but had Tesco Lighter Choices yog instead and I lost 1lb 4oz.

Margaretclare - mum was put onto an injection last year, but it wasn't insulin - sorry. I love going for my daily walk with mum and she sure has speeded up over the past weeks! It's great to see her now and I agree I think it's important to do excercise alongside the diet for your longterm health. :)

sb44 - I lose between 1 and 2 pounds on my pp day, generally 2 pounds and feel much better for doing this day, not sure if it's all in my head tho, but honestly I really don't care!! :j

I go through the oatbran quite quickly as I have it as porridge every morning (or at some point in the day if I miss it then) and I follow the instructions on the pack which is using 4 tablespoons. I know that you should only use up it to 3 but I really enjoy it and as dr dukan says I take a multi vitamin to compensate for anything that is getting flushed out my system too quickly. But as I'm having it for breakfast there is nothing in my system to start with. I quite like the pancakes (gallettes) as well, especially on my pp day, I have 2 made with vanilla fat free yoghurt for a more savoury taste and have it with scrambled egg for lunch.

I don't eat the muller yoghurts at all, I tend to stick to onken fat free vanilla and strawberry and neither or them seem to have had any adverse effect even though the strawberry has some 'bits' in it.

Look forward to following all your journeys :D

    Thanks Nonnie.

I haven't tried Onken vanilla, will have to give it a go.

I think the extra exercise does def make a difference.

I used to have breakfast after the school run, after I had taken the dog for a walk.
Now I have started having breakfast before I go 'walkies' so that I walk a bit of breakfast off. :D

This morning I wore a pedomiter and set it to calories, it showed I had used 206 cal whilst out, so I suppose that was a bit of my one egg omelette with cottage cheese cancelled out.

    ;)

Yip I've been wearing one as well, makes me move more and I get annoyed if I haven't reached a certain amount of steps each day, I'm dreading the winter if it's like last year and I can't get out that much!
