Well I'm on day 2 and so far so good! I'm not finding the meals too difficult but resisting the occasional snack is harder than I thought. I'm so used to just picking up a packet of crisps!
It's the first time in a while that I've felt really positive about a diet
I've also decided to give up alcohol for a while. My grandfather went in for an operation a couple of weeks ago and he was told to give up alcohol in the run up to it. He lost 14 pounds in 14 days and he's not even a heavy drinker!0 -

14 pounds of what?
Sorry to be sceptical, but I doubt it was fat.0 -

Fair enough. Feel free to be as skeptical as you want. I thought it seemed high too but I have no reason to doubt him. And alcohol is notoriously bad for its high calories its ability to stop you burning fat properly. Plus it has the added disadvantage of making you hungry.0 -
If stopping alcohol was the only life change he made in those 14 days and he lost 14lbs as a result, there is no way he was just a moderate drinker! He must have been downing high calorie stuff every night prior to this.
I gave up alcohol completely for all 3 of my pregnancies and even in the first trimester when you don't commonly put on much weight, I did not lose weight as a result. But then we rarely drank more than one bottle of wine between us every week, so I wouldn't have expected it to make a huge impact on my weight.0 -
I started this but found the protein only just made me feel sick (maybe that's how you loose the weight) but I did stick with it but added veg and salad and it is fine.
It is a bit of a quick fix but what it has taught me is how the weight went on.... after sticking to a strick diet I can clearly see what has made me fatter... the quick slice of bagette with butter as I made the family sandwiches, the jammy dodger I would pop in whole before even bringing them to the table, the second packet of crisps (yes I know!!) finishing off my little ones sandwiches, popping the solitary sweet into my mouth plus finishing off the biscuits whilst cooking dinner... and so on.
The oat bran galette is better if you mix oat bran, egg white, low fat fromage frais, teaspoon of sweetner, pinch of cinammon and teaspoon of cocoa. less eggy and quite nice. I have one with a low fat yogurt in the morning.
I am not a fan of sweetners but whilst trying to loose a bit of weight I am happy to keep with it.
Missing cheese though!!I have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat - Rebecca West
Weight loss 2010 - 1/7lbs :rolleyes:0 -
can i ask what sweetners anyone uses - only when i read the labels of all the granulated sweeteners they all had really high carbs, only the tablet type ones were low carb0

We use agave nectar. The table at the bottom of this page shows why it is helpful.

They sell it in Waitrose and Holland and Barrett. Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -

I'm terrible for the second pack of crisps too!
So far I had one day where I felt a little bit off. I think that might have been more to do with my sister telling me how bad I should be feeling. I'm finding it hardest to give up the bread. I just hadn't realised how much of it I was eating.
If nothing else being on this diet has made me realise just how much I was relying on bread an potatoes in my diet. It's also reminded me just how much I used to love porridge! I hindsight one of the worst things I ever did for my waste line was when I stopped eating oats for breakfast everyday and started eating toast!0 -
I havent started this diet yet but would like to know how you are all doing, what are you eating in the attack phase?0
