    I puzzled over this for months. Go to User CP - Edit Options - scroll right to the bottom and there is a box for changing how you do messages. I changed mine to the WYSIWYG setting and now have all the options available, including putting smilies where I want them. :D

    Hi looby, I was just wondering if the pub the party was held in, had a cctv system in?? :confused: You may be able to contact them via their brewery or company and see if there is any evidence of you NOT taking the item at least.

  • From my experience AS stuff is nothing more than overpriced cheap tat of very poor quality.

    My Sister held a party and the organiser made off with the money... no goods were delivered and my sister had to explain to her friends what had hapened. Surprise Surprise, the organiser denied even having the party (!!!) and AS washed their hands of my sisters complaint (which was theft), so I am not holding out much hope of you being refunded your £20.

    Avoid AS like the plague.

    I have no idea about the cctv, the pub is closed now until after easter as it's in a sea side town right on the waterfront :(

    it's shocking! How the heck can AS take the word of one person over a whole party full of people???? As much as I hate to admit it I think I've seen the back of my money too.

    Sorry to hear you have all had such problems with ann summers party organisers. I am a party organiser and what you have been through is appalling.
    I would like to reassure you that very few ann summers organisers would treat customers like this. I personally treat all of my customers with the utmost respect.

    I also cannot believe that head office have been so rude and unco-operative. I suggest that you send another email to them requesting that your complaints are looked into again. Explain that the PO's have not contacted yourselves. Also ask for the contact details of the reps so that you can write directly to them.

    I hope you have better luck and that these matters can be resolved very quickly.

    If you have any questions my email is (BG Edit - Please send all messages via private message). Please feel free to contact me
  • Crikey - poor you. It sounds as if these parties are best avoided, especially as you can buy AS online, etc. I hope you get a result soon.

    I went to an ann summers party a friend had organised in a pub in September I placed an order and paid £20.00 for bra. It was arranged that the Party organiser would drop our order off at my friend's house as the bar was closing for the season. (it was a sea side resort)

    Looby: no matter what AS tells you, it's blindingly obvious that this matter relates to the non-fulfilment of a financial transaction, the essence of which was the payment of £20 for a product stocked by the Ann Summers organisation, and advertised / promoted / marketed directly to you by an authorised agent / representative of the Ann Summers organisation.

    AS cannot deny the product's provenance. Nor can it deny that, at the gathering at which you were present, an individual authorised to act as an agent / representative of Ann Summers was also present, and that it was in consequence of that individual's presence that you decided to purchase the bra.

    (Explanation: AS cannot deny the presence of its agent / representative at that gathering, because it has already acknowledged such in its email to you. Ergo, it cannot deny the actual existence of the agent / representative, either -- which is sad, really, as it might otherwise have wished to entertain the Court with the novel defence that you bought the bra from a visiting Martian who specialises in ladies lingerie.)

    You need to marshall your facts, viz:

    1) In what form was the £20 payment made -- cash? Cheque? Card?

    2) To whom was the £20 payment made -- cash, cheque or card to party organiser, or cheque / card to AS?

    3) Who was responsible for the event: your OP says your friend organised it, but you also say a party organiser was present.

    4) Finally. . . where is the receipt for your payment, and what does it actually say?

    Your aim is to achieve a refund of all monies paid plus interest plus expenses from Ann Summers, on the basis that:

    Ann Summers was the ultimate financial beneficiary;

    Ann Summers authorised the woman with whom you dealt to act on its behalf;

    Ann Summers stocked the item which you purchased from the woman who advertised / promoted / marketed it to you, in her role as an individual authorised by the Ann Summers organisation to act on its behalf.
