For me, not for up to a week after it has left the house and then it slowly snowballed the more I got rid of.When does this change from 'dont want to part with stuff' to 'yay, I feel great, all my stuff is going'.....cos so far I cant say I'm having a good time. :rotfl:
Great post marzipan fish - I'm a fan of that blog too and bought the ' declutter bootcamp' ebook she sells too.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
There was one. It was our very first 'home' computer, mostly because we had them at work (a university), and they'd been bought as a job lot, so staff who wanted one could buy their own.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
At least the Amiga models did have a following of sorts. I don't recall ever seeing a 'Northstar Horizon' fan base.
:D
I am trying to remember the name of our 'tame techie' at the time who convinced us it was a great leap into the future. To be fair, it was! :rotfl:
BTW, we still have all the floppies from those days too. Anyone seen a 5+" disk drive lately? :rotfl:
Don't get me started. He didn't want me to throw out a box of floorboard nails, either, some of which were bent, until I said I'd take them to a car boot sale. Astonishingly, I sold them for 50p! If I hadn't, we'd still have them.(Your OH wins though....I bow to his hoarding superiority. :rotfl:)
I read about the hoarders. I don't think she mentioned my main type. I'm not sure I 'belong' here. I feel as if we might be uprooted again. Which is ridiculous, because we've been here 11 years!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
We were just talking about this at work today - moving house, packing etc, turns out my friend's husband still has 3 sealed boxes in the garage from when they last moved house 5 years ago - and neither of them have any idea what could be in them! Clearly not stuff they need or have missed eh?0

Imo, genuine hoarders (of which I am one
) hoard and collect things simply because they like things
I also don't have the fullest of lives and I suspect I fill the gaps with nice things that bring me pleasure.
read the book, it's got "things" covered too.
p.s. 100 moles? You ARE going to pack them all away before you have any viewings on the house, aren't you?;) Over the years I've come to realise that while there are many many people who love to have clutter filling their shelves, other people's clutter usually drives them nuts because it's got no special attachment to them and just ends up looking like a mess.
pps, hoarding is not for life, I used to be a terrible hoarder, but the more I practise throwing stuff I don't use out the better I get at it - it has taken years to get to this stage, though, but if you asked my hubby he'd still say I'm a terrible hoarder. I moved hosue with about 300 books but have about 30 left.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Coming out of lurkdom as I have been following this with interest to find out what kind of hoarder I am
Perhaps I ought to read that book and see which one I am.
I also have several (don't even know how many - how bad is that?!) boxes in our loft from when I moved in with my OH 4 years ago. Boxes of "stuff" that I decided I couldn't possibly part with when I moved, but which have resolutely stayed in the loft seemingly without me missing them at all. Things that I don't necessarily love but I might want/find useful "one day". And no, that day hasn't come yet 4 years down the line. But surely that's normal when you move, isn't it?
So I've promised myself that I am going to clear them out this summer - and your thread may well be the kick that I need.:TGC 2016 Jan £259.35/£250 Feb £lost track/£250 Mar £163.70/£250

I think you're OK to get rid of them now!
BUT I mustn't hang on to mine for another 19 years - that really would be ridiculous.GC 2016 Jan £259.35/£250 Feb £lost track/£250 Mar £163.70/£250

I saw the life laundry woman do something nice with a woman who was keeping ALL of her Mum's old clothes - she used to get them out and stroke them as it brought back lovely memories of the happy times they'd shared while Mum wore a particular blouse - they cut a square out of each piece of clothing and made them into a little quilted throw. I know we've not all got time to do that, but I thought it was a nice way of always having her happy memories available, particularly as the clothes weren't made of crimplene or covered in cigarette burns like some of my Gran's were.:oMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
