Classic declutters procrastination ploy:D The "it 'might' be valuable one day so I'll keep it taking up space for another 10 yrs and pay for it to be transported when we move etc etc."Anyway...off the subject of handbags.....I have an old Amiga 4000 computer and a Commodore monitor. It still works perfectly but the only time we use it is to play Nibby Nibbler on it.
I have no idea why I kept it but I kinda feel like I need to. It might be worth money one day? :undecided
Living simply with less clutter hanging over you will be worth far more than any money you 'might' make at some vague time in the future.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
I can't believe you have to ask.... after all the worry and sleepless nights you've had lately, you HAVE to get rid of those bags and put the money towards the debt.
Then make a promise that in your new life closer to civilisation you'll earn the right to buy yourself a posh bag to take with you when you're out and about with your new chums.
The bags represent the old debt-ridden aliasojo and need to be put to good use servicing your debt. Keep the picture you put on ebay and it will remind you of your new goal.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

but what if it's buying the nice things that got someone into debt in the first place - is it right to keep paying interest on it when the things aren't being used?;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I can just about cope with the idea of you hoarding radley handbags you never use, but please tell me you're not going to say the same about your collection of jewellery, shoes, soft cuddly toys, wedgewood ornaments and so on. _pale_ and please, please don't tell me that you have saved every pair of shoes that your child has ever worn, which my SIL did once, when her daughter was around the same age as yours is.:eek:0

This is my everyday summer bag. It's the English Garden large tote version and I carry allsorts in it. (Not my pic, my bag looks more battered than that now.
)
I don't actually go anywhere to use the other bags.

No bids but he must think it's worth something if he's asking £600!
*goes of to polish mine*
The secret to this not becoming a 10 yr 'someday I'll sell it project' is to set a short term time limit to sell it: i.e. I have to list it in the next 2 weeks or it goes sort of thing.
As for the debt - sounds like this is back under control after a few days of misery, so although I am not a horder, or into handbags I think it sounds like you should keep the radleys as part of who you are, but definitely start using them when you move and are likely to go out a bit more. Life is too short I have discovered to save things 'for best'.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
I say sell the bags.
Unless you have a museum sized house with gallery space to show off your 'make me happy things' (if only to yourself, I'm not talking about visitors), they are just cluttering up your precious living space and working against your debt reduction goals.
Also, what if Radley bags fall out of fashion (& become worthless?)0 -
Actually, I say sell/recycle/donate it all. Well, most of it!
Use the potential move as an opportunity to go through everything you own and pare it right down to the used and treasured only. I'd suggest starting with clothes: they're easy, most people have far too many items and clearing stuff out will make you feel FANTASTIC!
We only use 20% of our possessions 80% of the time.
Dare I share that I want to move house just to start over. I would love to get rid of the vast majority of everything we own as a family. Clearly I don't need to move to do this, but it would make my decluttering journey a lot easier. And I love moving house! :-)0 -
I'm with you on the hoarding vibe, but my weakness is books.iI've vowed to give every book away after i've read it, but can't help hanging on to just a few:D;)"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
