  • Hi Everyone,

stuck inside trying to get my cash back! on such a great day too!

I am having some probs getting my statements from Barclays bank

I sent rec del the letter and my £10 cheque on 22Feb , i sent a copy to the OFT and have a copy of letter/cheque myself.

The 40days is more than up now and they have yet to cash the cheque.

I must be due a fair amount back as they obviously not keen to let me have the staements!

My problem is that I dont know how much to claim cos they wont send the statements, does anyone have any advice as to how I can get the statements i need?

any help would be most appreciated!

I would be really grateful if someone could please advise me what to do.

I came across this website a few weeks ago and have been logging in everyday since. I am so pleased for all of you who have managed to claim back your bank charges. - Well done and congratulations! :T - it spurred me on to try and do the same.

However, I sent Martins first letter three weeks ago to Barclays, Lloyds TSB and Natwest for a list of my charges over the last 6 years. Still not heard anything and am getting a bit frustrated as really want to get the ball rollling. I sent all items via recorded mail and have checked on the royal mail website which show that all three letters have been delivered. - My question to you all is, should I phone each bank to chase up or is it normal for it to take this long?

Always check if you can download statements with online banking and/or camp outside your local bank :)

My friend is in the same situation, she sent 1st letter and £10 chq on 26th Feb. She contacted them as there was no correspondence and received a letter from HBOS Louise Bunker Data Subject Access Request Team dated 21st March - no telephone number on letter. She was told she would receive the statements by 10 April which I guess is when the 40 days would have been up (based on when they would have received the letter). However she hasn't received anything yet. I think it is appalling as other banks seem to be able to meet the demand within 10 days... Thanks caol13 your info is helpful!

  • Would someone out there be able to help me please. I am experiencing financial difficulties owing to ill health and beiing unable to work. I had an O/D arrangement for £2,500 with Halifax. I was O/D by £2,036.56 in October 2006 and received a letter from them requesting their money back. They quoted 'Under the conditions of your account, a monthly salary or similar payment is required. Until recently we have not enforced this condition. Un quote.
With assistance from this web site and CCS I have been able to make token payments to my creditors including Halifax who agreed to accept £5 per month. However, interest is being charged each month ranging from £26.66 to £31.61 despite my requests to freeze them (How do they work the interest out?!!). At this present time my outstanding balance owing is £2,193.62.
I sent my first letter to reclaim bank charges 42 days ago along with £10 postal order. As yet I have not received a reply and am unsure how to word my second correspondence. I am scared that they may demand the full amount that I owe them but I can ill afford to let this matter continue as my debt is just increasing.
I would appreciate any assistance that you kind people may be able to give me. Many Thanks.

  • Help!

Just begun this process and need to find out how much money I can claim.

Wrote to bank asking for details of charges and enclosing cheque for £10 asking for this within 40days, got a reply very quickly saying they would get this information to me an thanking me for the check.

The 40 days are almost up and I was looking forward to receiving the information to work out how much I may get by taking it further.

Then 2 days ago get a letter saying that 'due to high demand' they would be unable to meet this deadline but would get the information to me as soon as they could.

Hhhhmmmmmmmm. Great news they are so busy with folk doing the same! Great the pressure is obviously getting to the banks... but not so good for me!

Not sure what to do next? Can I write back and say they must meet the deadline?
