Thanku kayleigh for all your advice i really mean that, i have cancelled direct debits for now just to make sure nothing comes out, i need money for rent and my mobile ( which i need for work) these are my worrys atm once these are sorted i can tackle the rest.ive been gathering stuff up all day for my carboot tommorow if i can make enough to pay my mobile ( £73) then i'll be happy and it will be a start but i must admit ive got quite abit of rubbish.ive found it quite exhasting to day but i think its because ive been up all night worrying about that son of mine, he finally got home today thought night in the cells would of bothered him but he's gone straight out.I do get support for him from the youth offending team but it just go's in one ear and out of the other its like he's on a road to destruction and he's taking me along for the ride
Just dont want him to mess his college place up this year thats all.one good thing is he's been offered 3moths gym membership for free !! im hoping he will make the effort and go as it will keep him off the streets and away from the wrong crowd. he uses cannabis and drinks at weekends this is the problem i have and he steels to get it , i carry my bag everywhere even to the toilet !!0 -

It sure is.
what I would say is don't pay the £73 mobile phone bill tomorrow, that's £73 you're going to need for food. Instead write to them telling them the situation and that you'll pay them a £1 a month then get a new sim card for a pay and go immediately, you can usually get them for free with certain pay and go tarrifs. Everything I know, I've learned from Judge Judy.

You can always write down everyone's number and just put them back in on your new sim and tell everyone your new number, or let them know in advance that you're changing your number because of costs etc, work and people dealing with your son will understand.. A phone bill will not put food on your table, you need to think about what's going to happen on the 5th day when you have no money to buy food, with that extra £73 you can at least stock up for the next few weeks, but contract phones are a luxury that you just can't afford anymore and that's just how it has to be for the time being to get yourself back on track. Just let everyone know you're changing your number and write down everyone elses number, when it's all up and running do a quick 1 minute phone call saying this is my new number please update your records.i need this number for work and alot of people have this number whom i'm dealing with with my son, peope who's numbers i dont have so really need to keep this phone.ive looked in cupboads and theres enough to feed the boys for the next 4 days or so

Hi sotonsue,
Hope you are feeling better now.
You can port your existing mobile number to a new PAYG SIM card. Call up your current provider and ask for PAC (Porting Authorisation Code). Your current mobile providers have to give this to you straight away. Get your new SIM card and tell your new providers your PAC code (and mobile number that you wish to keep) and they will then transfer that to your new SIM card. This will take 2 or 3 days to complete, but during this time you can still use your new PAYG SIM (with its original number).
A mobile phone has two places that it can store numbers:
(1) On the SIM card
(2) On the phone
Over the last 6 years, every phone I've had has the option of copying from SIM to mobile and from mobile to SIM.
What I have done everytime I switch providers is copy all the numbers on the old SIM to the mobile. I then put my new SIM into the mobile and copy all the numbers from the mobile to the SIM.
It is very easy to do, and I am sure all modern mobiles have this capability. You might want to write down all your mobile numbers before just to give you peace of mind
Don't relax! It's only your tension that's holding you together.0 -
Hi -sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. You are definitely a survivor having coped with being in a childrens home, your ex and the death of your brother - it's no wonder you're struglling.
Do get in touch with the Samaritans - email then or perhaps phone them from a phone box if you have 20p and ask them to call you back? or can they call your mobile?
Hope the car boots gone well this morning and you've raised a bit of money.
Take things one day at a time.
Best of Luck

I was going to ask if you or your son had ever considered the Prince's Trust, but then I saw he has a college place. One of my sons has done this, and another is starting on Monday. My son loved it.0

Hi Sue
Just read the whole of this thread and was crying for you, honestly. I feel so bad for you and it must sometimes seem like there is no way out. I just wanted to try and help re the phone issue - I can thoroughly recommend O2, you can apply for a PAYG Sim on their website and at the same time put the PAC in for your current number (once you've obtained it from your provider - they have 48 hours to provide it from initial request and you must use it within 30 days of issue or esle you must apply for a new one). O2 ported my number for me and it took about 20 hours, was hassle free, and all online. I can't recomment them enough.
Hugs to you, and my heartfelt best wishes. Your son is being incredibly selfish and as he's 16, if it was me I'd be tempted to kick him out. I know you love him, but he's clearly not learning from his mistakes, or showing you any respect, especially by STEALING from you while living presumably rent free under your roof! Unbelievable.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but please know I'm thinking of you, you've had a tremendous amount of support here, and I hope it helps you in the longer term as well as right now.
Best wishes
