Hells bells! Those SP rises are massive  Starting to wish I'd gone for the fixed rate now, as I expect everyone will shortly follow with similarly huge hikes.

LOL, after going on about not having received my notification letter, I have realised that I am on version 7.

Sorry for my mistake - I didn't realise there were different Online Saver versions out at the same time. :embarasse

I spoke with EDF yesterday about this. The lady confirmed that if you switch now and EDF receive notification from your new supplier about the switch before the end of your contract, you will incur early termination charges even if the actual switch of supply only happens after the end of your contract. This confirms what has been discussed earlier in the thread -- I just wanted to hear it from EDF (well I would have preferred to hear different, but...:().

    leif,
im not here too contradict you but although if you do it now what you are told will be correct.
but if you do it 7 and possibly 12 days (more risky) before and even if they are told you are leaving they imo cannot penalise you.
you have no legal obligation not to shop around and set the wheels in motion as long as the transfer doesnt take place before the 30th.
we know they all tell you different but that info has to be legally wrong.
it takes 4 weeks or so to go through so technically you could do it now but i imagine they would rush them through some if you did it today.

Just changed over immediately to fixed saver version 2.Not a gambling man so acted straight away after those SP. planned increases.I understand wholesale prices have increased and prices have to go up but don't understand why they didn't come down when the wholesale prices decreased.I would advise anybody to change tariff now before they get pulled.

Ouch ! For accurate decisions on which Utility/Tariff to sign up with these days, we need a rapid fire machine gun with laser sights.

I too was on EDF V6 with the letter advising 'Standard Tariff' charges after the end of June - Not that this was a big surprise as since the rises in March, the V6 tariff was virtually the same as the Standard Tariff anyway.

Did the home work and whilst EDF's V12 wasn't the cheapest, I did not want to deal with n'power and Switched to EDF V12 on June 4th, had an Email back saying it was a done deal on June 5th.

However I also mentor the utilities for a local one parent family and yesterday looked at deals for them, and Hey Ho on June 6th EDF introduced "V10", which for them, (Eastern region/ Gas 9830Kw Elec 3249 Kw), is not only best for them, but top-of-the-shop according to switchwith which
  • I did the price comparison sites and EDF v12 is looking the safest bet for me. There were two cheaper options but they both end in September 2011 and I can't be bothered switching again. So I'm another £90 worse off this year, marvellous.

Can I switch to EDF Fixed S@ver 2 Dual Fuel from EDF online s@ver 6 and get a quidco cashback?
Are there any advantages to ringing EDF direct other than quickness and ease.
