EDF online saver-version 6 ending ???

I used to work for Edf and did for several years . This is how it is : the termination fee is applied if Edf receives a notification to change supplier from another company . This is not the transfer date but the date this request reaches Edf . In the biz they call them floh's It shouldn't be sent from another company until after the 12 day cooling off period .
This bothers me.
If i was switching mortgage i can reserve that product up to 6 months in advance.
I can't for the life of me see how it is difficult for an energy company to reserve a product at a set date (with a small reservation fee) and switch at a set date.
The fee is then refunded after the first quarterly billing/payment.
Well i can see how it is that difficult since most of them make an utter !!!! of simple things but it shouldn't be.0 -
I'm on the same tariff and i think i will wait untill the end of june before fixing on their fix to 2014 tariff.Bit of a gamble but don't want to get stung with £50 penalty.0

you wont get charged at all if you swap within the company, only if you go elsewhere.
the fixed 2014 will costs £328 more pa.
fixed saver version 2 costs £144 more pa.
online saver ver 12 cost £98 more pa.
the above is compared to what im paying now on ver 6
a £46 pa difference between VER 12 and FSV2 seems a no brainer.
my current costs are £1162.
FIXED 2014 is a 28% incease AS OF JULY THE 1ST
FSV2 sept 2012 is a 12.5% increase.
VER12 is a 8.5% increase but can/will increase by more than the 4% dearer that FSV2 will cost.
FIXED 2014 will cost £15.50 pm more straight away so @ 5 months till november assuming that when the big increase might/will come will have cost £77.50 just to get on it
so will it go another 10% to 30% in 2012 and 2013 thats the question.
i still really dont know what to do and these options are only if i stay with EDF0 -
Thanks for the info.0

Just thought i'd clarify this point. You get charged a termination fee from any company not just EDF if the date you transfer your supply is before your contract end date. The date they receive the request is completely irrelevant.
I dread to think how many people you gave the wrong advice to whilst you worked there!0 -

That's a very good point.
The T&C state that you will be charged an early termination fee of £25 each for both gas and electricity, if you change your SUPPLIER before 30th June 2011.
There is no mention of termination fees if you change to a different tariff within EDF.0 -
hi,
did they explain to you that you will move on to this tariff as of 12 days ish and not when your present deal runs out.
the chap i spoke too said its best to leave it till mid june, albeit there is a 30% risk it will be withdrawn, i am going to wait till about the 7th of june, i would wait longer but i have a major op on the 9th and i dont really want the hassle when i come home on or around the 15th.......
anyone got any thoughts on my approach to this.
No problem for me, I said on the phone I'm aware the tariff may disappear so can I secure it now and switch to it at end of current fixed deal and they were fine with that - all the paperwork is in place to be sent out to me and the tariff will switch on July 1st whether it's been pulled by that date or not.0 -
its all a bit off really, they will let you do it now and the change over will start july1st with ver12 but if you want either of the fixed you have to change straight away or after about 12 days cooling off.No problem for me, I said on the phone I'm aware the tariff may disappear so can I secure it now and switch to it at end of current fixed deal and they were fine with that - all the paperwork is in place to be sent out to me and the tariff will switch on July 1st whether it's been pulled by that date or not.0 -

I'm also on EDF online saver 6 which is expiring at the end of June.
I'm tempted to go for Fixed saver V2 which will cost me about £50 more than online saver V12 but give security against any increases for the next 15 months or so.
If I switch via U Switch via the MSE link, will I still be eligible for the free £40 wine offer since I would be switching from one EDF tariff to another rather than different suppliers? I've followed the link up to the point of "confirm transfer" and there are no prohibitions up to that point.0
