if they open the parcel would that not be classed as opening another persons mail? If so that is a crime?0

Just wanted to resurrect this thread as I'm in a similar situation...
I had a new iPhone delivered to my workplace. It was delivered by royal mail special delivery. The receptionist signed for the item, then it went missing. I was at work that day, it didn't make it to me so was either stolen 'en route' upstairs or from the post room. The phone company are saying they're not responsible as they have a delivery signature, and my employer is saying they're not responsible for personal mail. Anything I can do? As the receptionist signed for the item they must share some responsibility surely?0 -
Funkyjams, you're better off starting your own thread. Peeps rarely return to old threads like this and wont want to plough through 7 pages.
FWIW I would be speaking directly to the receptionist...Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

you are on a sticky wicket here
The company have successfully delivered as per your instructions.
Did you have permission from your employer to have it delivered to work?
As for the receptionist.well they are signing for mail delivered to the building. After that it vey much depends on the normal set procedures0 -

Most companies have conditions that handle personal mail delivered to work. They will take no legal responsibility for missing post. I would suspect he is screwed! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
