Oops! Just spotted the earlier posts - seems like there's a lot of us out here, happy to stay, don't want to lose our discounts, but don't like the new EON prices offered. Answer seems obvious - EON Sales Manager needs to get his pencil out quick and give us a new deal that at least matches the competition.0

...is that when you come to the end of the contract, the hike is significant, cos you've been immune to 1yr-18 months of price hikes. Once you come to terms with that (I have just had to!!) plus the fact that FOL8 was exceptionally cheap in relative terms due to the extra 18% discount, then the transition to another plan is less painful.
EoN have been good in providing energy monitors and encouraging tracking of energy useage - ie developing good energy behaviour - as such, the extra cost I now face is not quite so bad, as my family "behaviour" has improved!!
There is no way we would find anything close to the FOL8 deal today - fact.
Stu (a satisfied EoN customer!!) - oh, and I 've fixed to Apr 13 with them......:rotfl:0 -
I worked out the difference I would be paying for my gas and electricity if I switched before 1st July.
I would be paying £11 per month more if I immediately switched to BG onlinesaver 11 so 2 months roughly £20 plus £30 for breaking the contract = £50 it would cost me to switch.
How much extra would I pay to eon if I was put on their standard tariff from 1st July until I switched to someone else 6 weeks later.
It won't be £50. More like £15.
I'm staying to the end.0 -

Likewise - I will get a bill for 01 July with the 26.6% discount and then decide what is the best option.0 -
In a webcast with some of their customers recently, the E.On Director of Customer Operations, in response to a question as to why they couldn't just tell their customers what the best deal was, said that the company would go out of business if every customer was on the best tariff for their usage. Maybe with the current tariffs, there is no chance of E.On losing money, unless there's a mass exodus of customers that is!

I only get 24.4%:(
This is from energyhelpline and the same on my paperworkDual fuel direct debit customers receive a discount of 8% off their total annual bill. FixOnline NSC v8 customers receive an additional discount of 18.6% off their total annual bill for managing their account online. The total discount is 26.6% off the total annual bill.0 -
Yep I looked at this too. Difference between BGWS11 and EONOLS7 is about £60 on current figures. If it is still available on 1/7.
Take off the £30 as you say, and allow say £20 of increased costs for 2/3 weeks min providing you can get a penultimate bill close to final then as you say not a lot in it.
Add to that a cashback maybe if you decide to switch then little impact.
Thank you to Malc for your patience and to EON for there good service this time round.
I guess us moaning here will be a mere ripple in one corner of the EON ocean. It's the principle
One final question Malc if I may....
If we opted for say OLS7 now could this be invoked post OLF8 maturity. No exit fee, discounts maintained and we get the "best" possible deal if we decide to stay?

Hi Cardew I'm not in the same area as you. Surely you know that we don't all pay the same and get the same discount?
It depends on where you live.
At least we get free prescriptions and eye tests in Scotland. Makes up for paying extra for everything else.0 -

Obviously knew that electricity prices were different but didn't realise that the discounts would be less.
Even within Scotland it varies as Glasgow gets 25.4% discount - not your 24.4% presumably from further North?
That really is discrimination as in Glasgow they also get free prescriptions and eye tests!;)0
