I have E-ON Fixonline 8, expiring 1st July. I am not sure where I should move to. Would like fixed. Using a comparison site it came up with nPower v22 as cheapest, which is £110pa more than E-ON currently. Not sure what my rates goes to with E-ON Energy Online, over £250 more than currently I think. nPower has a standing charge though, and it's variable.
I have worked out my usage as 33,500 kwh GAS annually, and ELEC 5000 kwh. Could go higher in the coming 12 months as someone will be home all the time now. Currently paying around £1200pa.

It was in the BBC News at 10 last night that energy prices are going up by 15% in the next couple of months, increwase in inflation too, and that means by 1st July the rates of competitors would be EVEN higher!!!

    1st July = Doomsday!

Hi Malc / Helena (or other E-ON MSE rep)
What are your views on this please?
Look forward to hearing from you.
    Many thanks,

    Hi Xstyle,

Hope you don't mind if I reply Malc is off today :o

I just have a couple of points on this.

The E.ON T&C'S do say that we may charge the cancellation fee if you change tariff or supplier before the end date of the product.

So simply coming off a contractual tariff before you initiate the switch may not make the saving. (This has been mentioned on the forum in the past).

Also if you do change off the contractual tariff to avoid the cancellation fee and go on to standard tariff, this might end up costing more or break even due to the higher prices/less discount.

It really depends on the individual account, most people would try to change supplier once they know they have completed the tariff so they don't get charged the cancellation fee.

Thought I'd understood all of this discount business. I was on FixOnline 7, which has now ended and I've arranged to switch to EDF. I was assured on here and by email from E.On that I would still get the discount up to the end of Fixonline, but assumed I would not get it on the standard EnergyOnline tariff they have now put me on. So, I phoned today to request a bill, before my final bill as changeover is due in about a week. It's not that critical and the discount would not be much, but I thought I'd try. So, I got confirmation that I would still get the discount on the FixOnline tariff, they took my readings, but said I can't request a bill now as one is not due until my final bill when I leave. However, the man said I would still get the EnergyOnline discount up to the time of leaving. Don't believe it, but will be interesting to see when I do get it.

This is all new to me too but I have shown a keen interest over the last week or so.

I believe you will get the online discount for Fix online bit as you kept it till the end of the contract.

Not sure there is an additional online discount for the new EON online bit, I thought it was all(very little) wrapped up in the actual unit price.

    So technically they are correct.

    So technically they are correct.

The EnergyOnline plan says there is 6% DD discount, 2% dual fuel and 2% online discount. Their T&Cs say that no discounts will be applied to the final bill, which is how I assumed it would be and is no big deal as I have only been on the tariff since FixOnline 7 ended. Having read on here that you can request a bill at any time, even when a switch is initiated, I thought I'd try. So I was a little surprised that the guy I got said I couldn't request a bill but I would get the discount up to the time of leaving.
So long as I get the discount on FixOnline, that's all I'm bothered about, and there doesn't seem to be a problem with that, so I'll just put it down to a bit of mis-information.

Interesting that not one person has said they're staying with E.On even though the price is high but because the service is great. Just shows that good customer service only goes in hand with a good product. I bet I'm not the only one who would seriously consider going back to E.On, but I won't be looking until my new fixed price tariff ends - and they'll still have to have a product that's financially attractive. Of course, they could have sold out to somebody else by then, due to falling customer numbers!

i'm on fixonline version 8 also think I'll stick it out to the end and see what is available then, fingers crossed no price increases between now and then.

In regards to everyone thinking E.ON are going to sit up and take notice of the number of customers leaving who have been on Fixonline, in the grand scheme of things the customer numbers who are on Fixionline compared to standard and other products is very small thats why they only had it available for such a small period of time to limit the customers that signed up to it.

If everyone went on the cheapest tariffs as said previously suppliers would go bankrupt

I too have EON FixOnline8 which ends 1st July. Others suggest British Gas as the preferred switch. Can you trust German Gas?

They are always the first to increase.
I will never join British Gas out of principle (Bloody Germans).

BG are owned by Centrica who are British. E.ON on the other hand are owned by erm E.ON who are very German much like RWE who own npower.
