How can you lose your discount if you stayed with E.On to the end of term? 1st May for FixOnline 7. Submitting the reading is only to avoid estimated bill.
True, I am sure the EON rep has quoted that contracted term discounts will be kept and only the out of contract period of the final bill will not be discounted.

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3166208 is the thread. Eon have confirmed it by email as well. I've started to switch on the strength of that anyway!

I am beginning to entertain the delusion that there is a comparison website I have missed. If only I could find it, then all will be well.

Sir Percival, I task you with this most urgent and noble quest. Find me the legendary fountain of everlasting cheap energy, where I can fix my prices at FixOnline 8 level FOREVER.

May God bless you on your quest.

I was interpreting the comments as E.On charging me at their highest tariff as soon as I ask to leave, irrespective of what tariff I am on. That applying even if I had finished my fixed term contract (which I have).

Now that I have given them readings and asked for a new bill, I will get charged for my actual usage on FOL7 and not their estimate, which would probably have tried to charge as much as possible on E.On Energy Online, which I have defaulted to.

I too am a longstanding EON customer currently on FOL8, for me they have usually been at the top of the list, sometimes second by a very small amount. Currently the cheapest available is BG websaver 11 with a 12.5% increase, SOL7 is a huge 19.75% increase. My bill is due in July anyway so no major risk of losses around change time but if things stay as they are it is bye bye EON.

However, BG Websaver 11 is not a FIXED tariff like FOL8 is. That's why I will be changing to the nPower Go Fix it.

Quite a lot of us in here are on the rather well-priced e.on Fixonline 8 tariff which finishes on 1 July.

There's no way I'll be staying with e.on on any of the tariffs they're presently offering us, so I'm starting actively to look around to switch - and with the cashbacks on offer for switching to another company e.on are going to lose a lot of customers. The cashback will more than cover any cancellation fee.

The question for the e.on company representative is whether they're aware of the number of customers they're likely to lose, whether that bothers them, and whether they're going to come up with a decent fixed/capped rate that's going to attract us to stay.

    Hi Doc N

We're certainly aware of the impact the end of Fixonline 8 is likely to have. It's one of the best tariffs we've offered, certainly in my time at the company, and will be missed.

At the moment, the only replacement tariffs are those currently on our website which, I agree, are no where near as competitive as Fixonline 8.

It always bothers us when customers leave, regardless of the reason, but accept that sometimes there is little we can do about it.

Fixonline 8 started well below our standard rates when it was first launched last year and our price increase in February has only widened the difference.

Our prices need to reflect the prevailing market conditions and this is where our current prices are. If these conditions change significantly then I expect our prices will be reviewed accordingly. However, I'm afraid at this moment in time, I'm not aware of any planned changes to the offerings now available.

Please be aware, though, I'm not privy to these decisions and am only told at the same time as the public. No matter how many times I ask the question, and I do, this info is kept very close to the corporate chest.

You and the other posters are doing exactly the right thing in using the comparison sites. See what else is available from the other suppliers and choose the option best for you.

It does - I was thinking about moving before then, though.

As brewerdave says, please be aware of our policy of not giving discount on final bills when changing supplier. If you move before the end of the contract on 1 July, you will not receive any of the Fixonline 8 discount on your final bill.

In this case, it will probably benefit you to ask for a bill just prior to your leaving date.

Should the switch complete after the end date of Fixonline 8, you'll receive all the discount applicable to this tariff even if part of this falls within the final bill.

Sorry I can't offer anything more positive in terms of our latest tariffs but hope the above is useful. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

I think the point that's being made is that unless e.on come up with a better deal than the ones they're currently offering, they're going to lose most of their customers to competitors. Nobody's expecting to get anywhere near FOL8 prices (that's unrealistic) but I'm still half-expecting a better fixed/capped offer than currently available from them.

My current £1300 for gas/elec on FixOnline 8 would be £1480 with Websaver 11 but that's a variable rate, so not much point switching, given BG's track record for increases.

Scottish Power's fix is until January 2014, but whether that's worth a £170 premium over npower's £1680 for a May 2012 fix is debatable.

Waiting for some comment from the e.on Company Representative tomorrow after the Bank Holidays before deciding finally. [Thanks for the comments, Malc - I've just seen your post]

I'm one of those voting with my feet too. My EOn Fixonline has just ended and I've already initiated the transfer to an EDF fixed tariff. The increase in cost is going to hurt, but not as much as staying with EOn. Both EOn and EDF have assured me the transfer will not be initiated for a couple of days even though I started it a week or so ago. So, should still get my discount on my final bill for Fixonline 7.
Got about a month on EOn's energyonline tariff, but will just have to take the hit on that - at least there's no penalty for leaving!

I'm with others here - good company EOn, but price is the biggest consideration.

    Hi victor

It usually takes between 4 to 6 weeks to change supplier. Even if the switch was started about a week ago, you should be well in as Fixonline 7 ended yesterday.

This means, by the time the switch completes, you'll have completed the full term of Fixonline 7 and receive all the discount applicable to this tariff even if part of it falls within the final bill.

Sorry you're leaving victor but glad your experience with us was ok.

Was involved with E.ON's recent webcast too. Seems the company wants to be going places and considers customer opinions seriously. When the fixed tariff I'm switching to ends, I'll certainly look at what E.ON are offering with a view to coming back..... Unless EDF totally blow me away with their service!:)

Having read the info about the E.On bill when you leave them, having no discount, I have just done the following:-
    o Taken meter readings
    o Submitted them to E.On
    o Requested a bill

Hopefully this will mean that I get discount for the period from my last bill (21st March) to today.

    Hi HoofeHearted

You've done exactly the right thing. Although your Fixonline 7 discount wouldn't have been affected, by giving us meter readings now, you've made sure the bill to the end of this tariff is accurate.

By completing the full term of Fixonline 7, you're entitled to all the discount applicable to this tariff even if part of it was to have fallen within the final bill.

With the tariff you've gone on to, however, you'll lose out on discount between today and the final bill following the switch.

Sorry you're leaving HoofeHearted but hope this helps makes things a little clearer.
