Another fixonline 8 customer here also looking to switch supplier. Pity as I have had good service over the years with Eon. If Eon came up with a competitive alternative I would stay with them.

I'm one of those voting with my feet too. My EOn Fixonline has just ended and I've already initiated the transfer to an EDF fixed tariff. The increase in cost is going to hurt, but not as much as staying with EOn. Both EOn and EDF have assured me the transfer will not be initiated for a couple of days even though I started it a week or so ago. So, should still get my discount on my final bill for Fixonline 7.
Got about a month on EOn's energyonline tariff, but will just have to take the hit on that - at least there's no penalty for leaving!

I'm with others here - good company EOn, but price is the biggest consideration.

I too am a longstanding E.On customer, with my FOL V7 finishing today. Was considering switching to Save Online 7 until I realised that this is not a fixed price tariff.

Have used the comparison sites and the only way to go appears to be with nPower Go Fix 5. So that's what I am going to do, unless E.On come up with something very soon.

Hope the new condensing boiler makes a difference.

To squeeze maximum efficiency you need to make sure the heat of the water returning to the boiler isn't too great - should ideally be 55C to ensure the best transfer of heat from the boiler exhaust gases.

Unlikely Eon will introduce anything like that which a few of you are appealing for, generally Eon's current range of products is in line with the market place (when you take into consideration there is no such thing as THE cheapest company) and given prices are almost certainly going to go up very soon, definitely will not be a fixed rate (at a competitive rate anyway) and capped deals with any p[ower co are always an insurance policy high cost now on bets that prices will go up in the future thus levelling your current high rate on a cap with an increase. remember if looking to leave Eon before normal bil period, you will not get discount so put reads in to Eon site and request bill early so your bill produced and will only have about 6 weeks consumption on final bill that will not be eligible for discount.

All we need is a brief window for E.On to pick up some cheap energy futures, so they can bundle them into FixOnline 10. So, if we fake our own deaths by Bubonic Plague, and blame Osama Bin Ladin, UK energy traders will panic and dump their contracts, due to lower demand for energy in the future. We then all jump up from the death bed, and shout: "Got you!".

The Glowworm has weather compensation, so any manual setting is overridden. It's very clever. I think 55C is where condensation tails off. The cooler the better.

Having read the info about the E.On bill when you leave them, having no discount, I have just done the following:-
    o Taken meter readings
    o Submitted them to E.On
    o Requested a bill

Hopefully this will mean that I get discount for the period from my last bill (21st March) to today.

I'd be interested to hear the outcome. :)

How can you lose your discount if you stayed with E.On to the end of term? 1st May for FixOnline 7. Submitting the reading is only to avoid estimated bill.

I too am a longstanding EON customer currently on FOL8, for me they have usually been at the top of the list, sometimes second by a very small amount. Currently the cheapest available is BG websaver 11 with a 12.5% increase, SOL7 is a huge 19.75% increase. My bill is due in July anyway so no major risk of losses around change time but if things stay as they are it is bye bye EON.
