I phoned up E.ON just over an hour ago and ask to be switched to Price Protection April 2014, 7% premium above today's standard prices.

I was told that this product is only available to existing E.ON customers however it should no longer be available to ANY customers. It is still available in the system as a current product so call centre staff are still using it.

As I've switched from Fixonline 8 I can now register my Tesco Club Card.

I personally would call up and just ask to be switched and see what response you get!

Am I the only one confused with the comparison sites. They are all giving different results ?

Just to add to the conversation I've decided to stick with EON and go from FOL8 to the Fix 5, Shes set it up so that it starts from July 1 so no penalty and no increase till then.

Works out 9% more than the "standard" tarif I'd be going on to and for me it is around £15 a year more expensive than the EDF Fix 2014. However its worth staying for three reasons 1. Ease 2. Clubcard points 3. Its a fix with no penalty so if better options come along I can take a look (unlikely)

    Good Luck everyone
I have just done the same. Sick of looking TBH. I know its more but at least its fixed until July 2013 and we are just going to have to cut down a little more!!!

    Yup i'm getting that too.

And the more I am looking into which provider to switch to
the more confused I am getting. LOL

One minute I think ok I will go with 'A' then next I think no
I will go with 'B', then I look on another comparion site and
there a some more options 'C' and 'D' that look good. LOL

Now my head is in a bit of a mess and am getting to the point
where I think I will put all the tarrifs in a hat and let someone
pull on out for me and just go with that.

Which is 13% more than EDFv2 fix 9//12(after cashback on transfer) so I could afford an increase of 20 - 29% @ 9/2012 and still be better off??

Of course these tariffs are crystal aren't they:rotfl:

Having followed most of this thread, can't help feeling there is an opportunity there for E.On to capitalise on this situation. Come up with a fixed tariff and make sure it's consistently shown on the switching sites etc. It doesn't have to be the cheapest, just a reasonable deal. People will stay with E.On to avoid the confusion of searching and hassle of switching. Others will come over so long as the prices are realistic, because they do generally have a good reputation.

I agree with others that say Martin should step in here and that definately the regulators should be involved. Even using comparison sites it's still hard to compare the alternatives, as some include standing charges, others don't, then there are direct debit and online discounts etc. Some use 'units' when talking to you (Eon did this to me yesterday and claimed they couldn't see what my total Kwh was for the year) and other companies use Kwh only. I can't log into Eon and instantly see my years usage of Kwh, have to sit there and add up various bills, the whole process is infuriating really.

I called a few moments ago and EON have now confirmed that the Price Protection April 2014 is incorrectly saying 'May 2012' within the small print, but that this is something they are aware of and they will correct it by the weekend.

Our increase will be around 25% compared to FOL8, but hoping to mitigate this with less energy usage (hard though with a baby on the way) and also Tesco Clubcard points, as you can exchange theTesco reward vouchers for Eon vouchers worth 1.5p with Eon for every 1p on Tesco I believe.

:mad::mad: I phoned them about 2 hours ago and was told there was no way they could transfer me from FixOnline 8 To Price Protection April 2014 as it had been withdrawn and they couldn't access it. As a result have just gone to EDF...

With fixed online 8 we were paying £101 a month, with Fixed 5 we will be paying £127 a month so about 27% increase. I know its not probably the best deal around at the moment but it is 2 years its fixed for.... and you are not tied in so he said. I have looked online it seems so.

Personally don't go on the monthly DDRs I go on actual/predicted utilisation IMO it is more accurate.

After much soul searching I went for EDF fix v 2 9/12.

After cash back it is the same as EOL7 (the cheapest eon variable) and it is fixed.

If I take into account the money I would have paid extra to fix for the first 12 months with fix 5 I can still take a c.25% hit in the second year and still be no worse off.

I wouldn't be surprised if OFGEM hasn't got ist's bum into gear by then and arrested some of the obscene escalation. I may be wrong but who knows. It may even have come down :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
