I am waiting for Rob Perkins to call me this morning to clarify whether a genuine error has been made in setting up the Price Protection 2014 or whether they intentionally attempted to trick the customers who had been promised this taroff. i will report back the outcome- must say I have little faith.0

funny eh...not an eon rep to be seen.... they are making a huge pit for themselves and I still think Martin lweis needs to intervene when the reps are on here making public declerations that they are not sticking to0

Fixonline 9 is being offered, same unit prices, 11% total discount for my area, till 1st March 2012.
It is really doing my head in now! Am trying to do some 'man maths' to determine whether I pay the premium now for EDF Fix 2014, or just take the rises as they come. By my calcs, if EON increase their prices by 18.5% each year till 2014, I am no worse off than their variable plan.
Still confused!0 -
Can't see that going on to FOL V9 is going to pay because it only covers this winter period ie the next 8 months - you will then be back to square one looking for a further "deal" - for me it would "save" me ~ £100 vs EDF fix til March 2014 - but I suspect that the current fixed rates will be the variable rates by then-God nows what a fix will cost after next Winter!!0

8 months on FOL9 at current usage is £1372 vs EDF 2014 £1730
Big difference for me! Is it worth the premium now? :wall: I could tolerate yearly increases of 18.5% till March 2014 and be no worse off.
But you are right, I'll be back here again in March 2012!0 -
right this is a quickie as i am at work.
complaints dept have now confirmed there is an error on the accounts page and that I have been moved onto 2014 tariff, unit prices as follows capped till 2014 incl clubcard points 8% discount on each-
+ vat-
elec 25.7 and then 26.9
gas 7.3 and 3.20 -
Just to add to the conversation I've decided to stick with EON and go from FOL8 to the Fix 5, Shes set it up so that it starts from July 1 so no penalty and no increase till then.
Works out 9% more than the "standard" tarif I'd be going on to and for me it is around £15 a year more expensive than the EDF Fix 2014. However its worth staying for three reasons 1. Ease 2. Clubcard points 3. Its a fix with no penalty so if better options come along I can take a look (unlikely)
Good Luck everyone0 -

I have read this complete thread, and yes I too am on the war path with EON!
Anyway having spoken to them this morning, (my FixOnline 8 ends 1st July) I was advised to go onto Fixed price 5 until July 2013. I agreed to it, mainly because there is no cancellation fees, and did not want to lose £30 to end contract earlier, and also discount on final bill. (I don't trust they would not charge if I switched to another provider) My usage for the year is :-
Gas 23466kw
Elec 9904kw
£1455.10
Staying with Eon but on Fixed price 5 would mean an anual payment of £2195.04
However I have also entered figures into SimplySwitch comparison and EDF Fixed saver came out to with an annual charge of £1812.90
Which would save £382.14 if I signed up.
OVERALL STILL AN INCREASE OF £357.80
I tried to do the switch online and the site would not allow an online application ONLY choice was to call. I did that and was told:-
1. I would not get £40 cashback as I am calling the call centre.
2. The price is only available through the call centre.
When I spoke to a supervisor (Ashleigh) I was also informed that EON should not have advised me to go onto their fixed price 5 as it was higher than the EON standard price so I will not be on EON's cheapest price anyway!
OH I AM SO CONFUSED..... There is more to life than this surely!
However we all want the best price available depending on our usage.
At the moment I am still going with EDF fixed saver2 (though there is a £25 per fuel cancellation fee for getting out early) But I am going to wait to see what happens in between the 12 day cooling off, there hopefully will be some other deals to look at.
I Am very very disappointed with EON
So Lizardbuoy check the standard rate with EON as opposed to the Fixed price 50 -
completesaver - The Fix 5 *is* more than many of the standard tarifs but the point is its a fix so I'm betting that I'll save over time. Try an use actual kWH figures in your comparisons as that'll give you a personal opinion that is much more accurate. For example your blend of gas v elec has a big influence on the price.0

Money supermarket do appear to allow the EDF V2 Fix and give a £30 discount:o"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
