Mine comes up with nPower Go Fix 6 being slightly cheaper than EDF Fixed v2. So I've gone to nPower. I wanted to fix for around a year as I think we're going to see a few more price rises coming our way. In my view a variable deal is more risky than a fixed one, but that's just my own opinion. Eon have nothing to match the FOL8 so I've started the switch.

Why fix for just one year if you (as i do) believe prices will only go up ??

But does Eon fix 2014 really exist or is it just a vision!?!

I was wondering the same thing. I think it was called Price Protection 2014, but can someone confirm if this is actually a fixed or variable deal, if it exists?

I have a view that the curent long term fixes come with too high a premium, and that this time next year prices may well stabilise.

I just wanted an option at this time next year. To either fix, go with a variable deal, or emigrate! It's a risk but I don't have a crystal ball.

Of course, but going for a longer fix without "tie in" would also give you the option next year, with the additional safety net that if/when prices climb you will be protected.

I agree though is a premium to pay to gain this.

SOL7 is their cheapest variable tariff which is on a par with BGWS12.

Fix 5 is at quite a premium.

You really need to know your usage in KWH for both gas and electric for a whole year. then plug them into a comparison site like energyhelpline. Even if you put in your existing tariff it will default your existing one to whatever Eon will put you on the 1/7.

Even the SOL7 is quite a hike from FOL8 but represents the current benchmark.

    Have you considered EDF fixed?

I can't find my Annual KWH usage, so I had to plug in
my Quaterly bill amount for May ( I know that each
month may vary especially in the colder months, but
had to put something in), and ended up with these:

    EDF Energy Fixed S@ver V2
    - Monthly Direct Debit

Good service ratings / low levels of complaints
Prices fixed until 30th September 2012
    Cancellation fees apply

    yearly spend = £1,394
    saving of = £25(2%)

E.ON SaveOnline 7 (Dual Fuel) - Monthly Direct Debit

    High service ratings
    Manage your account online
Cancellation fees apply until 1 July 2012

    yearly spend = £1,334
    saving of = £85(6%)

E.ON Fixed Price 5 - Monthly Direct Debit

    High service ratings
Fixed prices until 1st July 2013

    yearly spend = £1,546
    saving of = £-128(-9%)
Ok I know the Fixed Price 5 is ~9% more expensive but it
is fixed for 2 years where as the other two are for 1 year.

So my thinking is I would be better off if the prices went up more than 9%
within the next year. And then if the prices went up again I would benifit further.

Does that sound a resonable assumption?

Just done it!!!Gone with the EDF fix saver V2.... Have 12 days to make up my mind and then if nothing better comes out go with it and only take a bit of a hike rather than a massive one fixing it 2014! Right going to bed!!

That makes EDF 11% cheaper (than FP5) until 9/12 so you could take a 20% hike (if you went EDF) post 9/12 and still be on par with FP5.

Don't forget if you switch dual fuel using money supermarket via MSE website link to EDF you could get £30 cash back too.

Just my thoughts for what they are worth.

I think you'll all find that e.on will sort this mess out quite readily, without too much fuss, and very amicably.

Anyone who's been promised a particular tariff is likely to get it, on the strength of my past dealings with them. I've always found that they act very honourably when there's been a mistake, as there has here.

My only regret is that I wasn't offered the 2014 fix earlier. if I had been, I'd still be with e.on! :)

    ....and so would I :(

hmm Ive just looked on two of my bills (downloaded PDF's)
and it doesn't say anything about Annual Usage :( only what Ive used
    for that billed period.

Where abouts did it state that on your bill and was it for a specific
month? Just in case I've missed it ;)

Also thought I would just look at each bill for the year so I
can then add all the quaterly useage up for the year......
But I my bills don't go all the way back to a year =(
