EDF fix for me. Went via moneysupermarket for £30 cashback although no mention of the £30 once I had completed the switch.:(
Ahh in my haste I forgot to include clubcard points in my calculation I'd only be £30 per year worse off if I stayed with EON and went for their fix 5 which lasts for 6 months longer.
May have to cancel the switch........................0 -
Eon,p**s ups and breweries comes to mind!!!0

THEY HAVE MUGGED US ALL OFF. Price protection 2014 that runs to err... may 2012 and it doesnt even say whether its capped of fixed.0

Agreed - the whole day has been a tale of misinformation,lies and deceit ...I suspect some of the problems have been due to an enormous amount of complacency amongst the senior staff at EON - They didn't realise quite how clued up the majority of the Fixonline v8 community are - and how many of us were looking to time our move to the very best tariff we could get!!:rotfl:0 -
I too have rang Eon this afternoon @4ish and after asking if there was anything better to switch to, was offered the Price Protection 2014, starting from the 1 July 2011 to max the discounts on FOL8. Also offered the FOL9 til Mar 2012, and also the other tariffs on the website. Agreed to the PP2014 switch but won't feel 'happy' until the paperwork arrives. No mention of the PP14 ending in 2012 though.......0

Wow! I am glad I stumbled upon this thread! after looking to see what to switch to
Currently on Fixed Online 8.
But after reading throught it I am now even more unclear which is the best new
product to switch to.
I was previoulsy going to look at switching to either "British Gas WebSaver 12 Dual Fuel"
or "ScottishPower Online Energy Saver 14 Dual Fuel", but after SP have decided to
raise the cost of gas by 19% and the cost of electricity by 10% from the start of August.
This has put me off going with them, and British Gas have annoyed me for the past few years
with constant phone calls pestering me to switch to them.
So it has now swayed me to stay with E.On, tossing up between the "SaveOnline 7" and the "Fixed Price 5"
But I am now started to get confused as to which one will be the best to switch to.
Especially as I guess once Scottish Power hike up their prices everyone else will follow suit.
So with that in mind I am favouring the Fixed Price 5
I guess at the end of the day it's all one big gamble and we will all end up paying more
which ever tarrif we switch to.
And here was me thinking switching mortages was a mindfield LOL.
What is the general consensus of people out there, do you think it's better
to go for the Fixed Online 5 or Something else?
My last couple of bills (FixedOnline 8) were:
Feb 2011
Gas = £160
Elec = 241
May 2011
Gas = 138
Elec = 125
FYI. I live with my girlfriend in a 4bed semi, with no children0 -

SOL7 is their cheapest variable tariff which is on a par with BGWS12.
Fix 5 is at quite a premium.
You really need to know your usage in KWH for both gas and electric for a whole year. then plug them into a comparison site like energyhelpline. Even if you put in your existing tariff it will default your existing one to whatever Eon will put you on the 1/7.
Even the SOL7 is quite a hike from FOL8 but represents the current benchmark.
Have you considered EDF fixed?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
